    Excellent info, though it would piss me off to change my plugs out every 30k, cuz that's once a year for me. So I put the denso iridium long life plugs in at 30k. Like ya said, no increase in performance, just a decrease in the intervals, kinda like using a synthetic oil over a conventional. So these plugs I plan on swapping them out at 100k unless I notice any probs, then every 60-70k after that. Thanks again for the expiramenting you have done.

    Stupid questuon: since there is a given range, .039-.043, do you get better performance from your spark plug gap being on a specific side of the gap range?

    They give that range cuz ya can't always get it perfect. I would say get it in the middle of the range, that way over time whether the gap closes or opens you got play.

    However, When tuning a race vehicle, I would increase the gap to get a larger spark. This is generally not done on a DD, as too large of a spark gap compromises ignition reliablility.

    Well I checked the gap on the platinum plugs...everything was correct. I bought a set of NGK's and put them in and BAM! Instantly runs perfect with no skipping. It got really bad before I changed the plugs out. The platinum were only in there two weeks. This 4 banger doesn't like high dollar plugs.

    I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
    When you driving like old man, using premium gas and do your oil changes on time, spark plugs on 2gen after 37 K are at half life :D

    Not the OEM NGK's.....I see them out of spec before 30k miles.
