So my amp caught on fire today...

    Anybody know what size capacitor that would be? its a 400 watt amp if that helps?

    6" procomp basic lift, alpine dbl din, 9" headrest screens, mb quart components, jl amp, yellow top battery, wet okole seat covers all around
    u mind as well buy a new amp, when u blow a mosfet its best to replace all of um. if the amp is worth saving go ahead and repair if not take the loss and get a new one. if u blew a mosfet almost 99% of the time is cuz of the car voltage went below 12.4 and u were clipping the amp thus either one of two things, amp goes or the sub does.

    i figured i'd do that since it was free and I don't care for the amp, I just don't have the money to buy a new one right now. But i've been searching for parts for the past hour now and decided it will just be easier to buy a new one anyways.

    lol yea thats what i thought, but there's only two of the same ones and one's obviously burned and the other one doesnt have anything on it :/ the circuit board has QP505 on it but i think thats the wiring diagram?

    That is not a cap, it's a transistor.

    IIRC Q denotes a transistor. If the lettering were to start with a "C" then it would be a cap.
