just got mx grillcraft,will painting radiator affect heat dissipation?

just got the grillcraft mesh grill installed and noticed that it would look better if the radiator was painted. would painting the radiator have any effect on the cooling system? for example higher engine temp, thermostat opening earlier?

 

From what I've read already on this site (used search), the general concensus seems to be that if you just use a high temperature rated paint (oven paint and such) there shouldn't be any problem.

 

does anyone know if paint your radiator. would it void your warranty in case your radiator takes a dump and the dealer says some crap like that

 

about to paint mine, i've wondered the same thing but have looked and asked and can't seem to find any evidence of adverse effects.. i thought it soundy shady at first too though

 

I painted mine with flat black Rustoleum BBQ Grill paint a few weeks ago when I installed my black billet grill. No noticeable change cooling ability that I have noticed.

I used this type of paint because it's what I had in my garage. And it worked great.

I used black rustoleum the day i brought it home nothing special and its 100% fine and WAY better looking.

 

They would have to prove that the paint caused whatever issue you had. If it rusted out or the welds broke- It would be an uphill battle to prove that the paint cause it. If the truck over heated all the time without another cause...Might be a different story.

 

Also keep in mind that you are painting the AC radiator, not the engine radiator. Keep the paint coats thin and you should have no problems. I have not seen any reports of painted radiators causing any problems. Certainly haven't had any problem on mine.

That being said.. not the place to discuss issues but my truck seems to run really hot for a week now, even if temp selector is set to neutral/middle its blowing hot air. Will painting further this issue a little?

 

I hate to bring back an old thread but im about to do this and have been looking around a lot on. the thing i found is that there is a company that makes a paint specifically made for this task. the company is called eastwood. is there anyone that has used this or knows much about it. as soon as i find a store that sells it i will be painting my radiator.
