Hey, couldnt really find the information while wading through all the different posts, so i thought i'd try to get my questions answered here:

2005 Tacoma prerunner 2.7L, all stock.

I want to lift my truck 2-3", dont want to drop a ton of cash either.
    Looking at three options:
    1) 2.5" front spacer lift w/ rear AALs
    2) 3" lift with front coils & rear AAL
    3) 5100 bilsteins

    1) With the 2.5" spacer lift, does it make the tacoma look "body lifted"/cheesy or does it look natural as if it were a suspension lift? dont know if that makes sense...
    2) With this package, will i need to purchase new shocks since i have the stock installed at the moment? And, WHAT ELSE will i need? Won't be installing myself, but trying to buy the parts, then take them in..
    3) Do you need anything else if you buy these? or will they, by themselves, give my truck the lift im looking for?

Any DOWNSIDES to any of the 3 options?

I want the lift that will give the highest quality ride/look, although i do not offroad, so durability/performance is 2nd to its' aesthetic appeal.

Would really appreciate some quality, thought out answers, know that your time is going towards helping a guy get his dream truck, haha.

    thanks guys

****found some brand new TRD shocks&coilovers for a good price on craigslist...would those be worth purchasing and swapping out the sr5/prerunner stock shocks? (200$ for front shocks+coils & rear shocks)

DO NOT get spacers. There's been more than a handfull on here that got spacers the first time, regretted it, and then bought a real suspension lift afterwards, myself included.

Just save up the money until you can get something better. :)

what about pieceing a lift together like 5100's with ebaich(or ome) coils and 5100's in rear with AAL?

its not quite as expensive as buying a toytec lift but its just as good quality(but you have to assemble your c/o's). just my2 ents

hmmm. really? i dont know about 2nd but im pretty sure that you can use 5100's with ebacih or ome (not recomended to use ome 883 with 5100's on 1st gen).

but on 1st gen you set the 5100's at 0 and on 2nd gen i think you set them at .85. thats the end of my knowledge:D

Op what's your price range? Personally I'd go with the 5100s if youre on a budget. But you can put some ome coils or eibachs on them as well...oh and you can put 883s on the 5100s...883s are a shorter spring with a lower spring rate than the eibachs.

oh i thought it said on wheelers that 883's arent recomended with other shocks(i.e. 5100's) with 1st gens. but im sure people are running them with 5100's

inky's right. No spacers. Suspension lift would be ideal. 5100s alone are the cheaper way, but the ride will suffer

Meh they just aren't "recommended" because they weren't made specifically for the billies. But when you look at the facts it's not that big of a deal...883s are .1" shorter than the eibachs and ~50-70# lighter spring rate.

I'd go with 2#, get some Eibach coils for the front, AAL for the rear & finish it off with the Bilsteins (great match for the Eibachs) on all corners

so im kinda getting the feeling that 5100's are "cheap way" or something? i was really thinking about getting 5100's with ebaich/ome coils for my next build???

is this(and dankar leaf pack in back with 5100's/ ome shocks) a bad/not good enough set up for some wheeling like this????

I am lifting my truck soon. And going through all of the great info on this forum, I have decided to be lazy and get the Toytec ultimate lift with the LR UCA's. Lift it right the first time and you'll probably be happy. Like I said, I'm lazy (and have limited resources) so the ultimate lift is for me. But piecing together a lift is another great idea, since you are having a shop install it.

The 5100's are not a "cheap" lift. They are actually quite good for what they provide. Combine the 5100's at 0" or at .85" with the Eibach coils, and you should have good height and a good ride.

Spacer lifts will give you that cheasy crappy look. Stay away from spacers of all types in my opinion.
