Im getting my windows tinted on Wednesday and am looking for help deciding on what percentage to get. State law says 35%, which I think is too light. The shop says they will do any tint for CASH. I'm thinking 20 or 25%? Anyone have pictures of their tint? Also I was quoted $145 for tinting both windows(regular cab) and back sliding glass. Good deal? Thanks for the help, and I hope I posted this in the right spot.

I have 5% also. Kinda hard to see through at night though. Make sure you take it to a good shop. Most shops dont cover the entire window, so the tint starts to peel off after a while.

I say 15%. 5% may be too dark at night imo. My truck has 35% on the windshield, 15% on the sides and 5% on the back windows and extra cab windows. I have some trouble backing up in very dark areas at night. Next time around I'll probably do 15% all around and 35% on the windshield.

This picture is in direct sunlight btw, when it's a little bit darker outside or cloudy you can't see inside the truck.

I dont see a problem with tinting the 2 front windows but please dont tint them to dark. I hate it when I cant look over and see the driver!! Looks like your in the fire service too. If you have FF plates or stickers representing you work for the FD, I would try not to do anything illegal.

I went with 35% up front. The tint guy said my rear windows are about 20% from the factory. It certainly helps with heat/sun on hot days. For me, any tint worth doing is illegal since I am in CA (the legal tint limit is a joke). I wanted my fronts clearly lighter than the rear to lower the chance of getting pulled over for tint. Since you can do 35% legally, why push it to 20%? You are just giving someone an excuse to pull you over.

    20% rear (factory), 35% front

    one day....
Ive learned a lesson about tint about two times. i like it where i can see out (at night too) and where people cant tell who i am or what i am doing. at first i had 20% on just the driver and passenger and it wasn't cutting it. i then upgraded to 15% on all the back (this is on top of the stock 20%) and 10% on the front two. i also have 40% on the shield which i highly recommend. i can see out at night, when backing up, and everything. its dark but not too dark. i hope this helps. i will post pics tomorrow when there is some light out!

I had them match the rears on the FJ. Came out to be around 20%. It's dark as hell IMO. Especially on the FJ (Which I know doesn't apply to you exactly) since you sit so far back from the windshield.

I had the fronts matched on my Tacoma to match the rears and I thought it looked perfect. I live in a college town where the cops are constantly searching for reasons to pull people over so I'm always rolling my windows down if I see cops to prevent a fix it ticket. I'm not a criminal and never up to bad things, I just like the way the tint looks when its darker.

well i also got the 3m tint which is a little more pricy but totally worth it because it is easier to see out than any other tint. Honestly i could never tell a difference with the tint on my windshield from the inside. but from the outside looking in it looks nice and dark.

I have been pulled once from running a yellow light but no ticket. the cop couldnt even notice i had tint on my windshield. he just told me my truck was dark but he said its a waist to check tint because in the state of florida, most tint places offer insurance.

5% in the back, 20% up front. I think it's perfect, still dark enough to give it the look, but not obnoxious enough to get hassled

30% everywhere (NOT THE WINDSHIELD) done for ~$90. I think it looks perfect and it's legal.

5% all around minus windshield. a little hard to see at night, you'll get used to it though. but you can't beat the usability. its like wearing sunglasses all the time.
