the point of the challenge is to test one's self physically and mentally, and to have fun doing something totally different. the point is not to make people quit or to hurt them. they want everybody to finish.

there is one in richmond on Oct 14. i was thinking about doing that one too because my brother goes to school at VMI, he want to do it too

    http://goruckchallenge.com/events/richmond/

doing this would be a great little physcial and mental prep/test for yourself before INDOC or TACP school

yes and no... you're recruiter is prob a lazy ass... hence the reason why he's a recruiter...lol

as far as i know, the branches are still meeting their quotas... so they are not in a rush to get dudes to basic... hence the wait.

i'd start calling your recruiter on a weekly basis for a few weeks and then start calling every few days if you havent gone to MEPS... make yourself annoying so he does his job

This ^^^^ to the point he gets you processed into MEPS to make you "go away!" Sorry you're getting strung along...must be frustrating. :(

Sounds like he's sandbagging you for later, like maybe the next quarter (July) or even the next FY (Oct). If he needed you to make his numbers then you would be at MEPS already.

Everyone has a boss, even in the military. Call his Company Commander and tell him/her about how you are not even getting the courtesy of a call back. There is no excuse for not returning phone calls and keeping you informed. If he was one of my guys, him and I would have a serious counseling session. Don't worry about jumping the Chain of Command because right now you don't have one and for sure don't worry about pissing him off. He's not doing anything to help you.

Back in November 1983 I went to MEPS. From then until I was due to leave for Basic in August 1984 I didn't hear from my Recruiter one time. Comes the day I'm supposed to leave and I'm sitting in the house ready to go. Around 1000 I called the station and asked what time was they going to pick me up. They didn't even know who I was. They then asked who my Recruiter was. I said, "SSG Lawrence". They said, "Oh, your one of his". Turns out he had wrecked his G-Jet five months before, after quite a few beers. He was gone and no one was tracking his DEPs. They came and got me but if I hadn't called I probably would have never shipped.

What I'm trying to say here, is that you are in charged of your career. Step up and make it happen.

for the most part air crew jobs will have you on "flyer status"... which we are for ATC. In order to get these jobs you have to be in top health, so make sure you ask about that before going through MEPs and having to chose different jobs again.......
