    Hey everyone,

Justs sold my 02 Ford lightning that I have owned since new (I am 44) and I am picking up a new 08 double cab Tacoma Pre-Runner with the rugged trail package this weekend. :)

    Couple questions....

    1) Anyone know if two full size dirt bikes will fit in the bed (with tail gate down of course.....I am concerned about the width here. Also, are the sliding bed hooks/rails strong enough for tieing down bikes?

    2) The stereo kinda sucks - is a speaker replacement a big step up? Can the head unit be replaced without major mods and will it affect keyless entry, etc.....

    Sorry for all the questions.....

    1. I've seen 2 dirtbikes in the back of a shortbed DC before.
    2. Pretty easy to replace. Lots of guys have done it.

Oh it'll fit just fine. There's a thread already on here about tying down two dirtbikes, I can't find it now, but its here. Here's a photo for proof that bikes will fit. :) Welcome to TW

Welcome. While the clamps on the side rails MAY hold up, i wouldn't travel far just using those. Put an extra set of D-rings in the front of the bed and be safe.

i haul 2 dirt bikes at a time at least once a week and have never had any problems but i would suggest installing d-rings in the front, i havent done it yet but i just slow down a little the stock thingamabobbers are a little weak and on bumps flex quite a bit

I think the rail D-rings are listed for 120lbs. They definitely hold more than that but Toyota likes to hedge there liability...

Ok...well, my sons 125 is 200 and my CR500AF is about 230......distribute that load bewteen two rings (for each bike) and it should be good. Plus, your tieing down the bikes and not actually supporting the full load. However.....that being said, D-Rings are good insurance. Can I get these at the dealer?:)

Yep. I think you'll find them cheaper elsewhere but not by much. there are a few threads on cheaper ways to add D-rings to the bed with stuff found at the local hardware or tractor supply store.

This is from Toyotas web site for the 09, not sure if those are full size or not.
