    245k+ miles, rust, working AC, bald eagles
    Long focal lengths with a good distance between the subject and background will cause the blur, as will big apertures (small "f stop number"). Its really a personal preference as to when to use it. I shoot at f/8 90% of the time because that seems to be the sweet spot for sharpness on my cheap lenses, and can still produce some nice blur.

    but getting DOF on a big subject its not easy, unless a 300mm+ lens

    i had a 300 mm sigma, then one day i zoomed out and try to come back but it got stuck so like a cave man i banged it back in and everything inside the lens came loose lmao

    On a smaller subject, achieving DOF is easy.

    50mm @ f/1.8
