the sand blasting has nothing to do with being near the main road. it has to do with parking near devils slide or blow sand. the dune sand is picked up by the wind and blown into the camp site... over night have literally seen it pit windows because the sand is hitting it allll night long. really shitty but it happens. yall have fun with the dune sand... ill be down where there is barely any wind and a whole lot of open space :) im just throwing the information out there... in the end, its not my windows that will need to be replaced haha.

Where is down there? Many of us have not been here before, if camping next to the ranger station sucks then we will move. Get us some directions.

ive been out numerous times every season for the past 4 years... i personally dont recommend camping up there but to each his own. we have never ever had any issues camping where we do and the rangers patrol the area we are in so its totally safe.

if you look at the map posted in the previous pages you will see the main road... when coming into ocotillo wells and heading north on that road you will first see some double wide trailers, then you will see "desert rose" ( a little convinience store) if you keep heading north you will see the blu inn. there is a bridge just before the blue inn. we camp on the south east side of the blu inn just before crossing over the bridge to the inn itself. awesome place once again. alex (battlescars) is a buddy of mine and we have camped there numerous times with no issues at all. like i threw out there before... you are all more than welcome to camp with us, one big fire and a ton of saved windows from the sand. from there, its only a short stroll up the wash to devils slide, blow sand, and shell reef.

That sounds good. its not that we wanted to camp by the ranger station, we just figured it might be a good spot. If I recall, that is also where we are set to meet the people not camping out Friday night. Is it possible for you to get us gps coordinates to the approximate location of the camp site(google maps)?

What area are you coming from? If you are near by and plan on leaving around the same time as us, you should meet us at one of the two convoy stops and roll with us.

Steve, what time do you estimate the people from the pie factory will be arriving by the ranger station to meet up with the rest of us? 7:30-8:00 AM? Lets set a time so us camping out will know exactly what time to be ready.

ok im going to attach a image of the place to the closest point i could find. the green line is san filipe wash... the blue dot is the blu inn and the red dot is where we camp. the bridge is that short strip of the 78 that goes over the wash. and i guess edit my last post... when i say north.. i mean east... musta got mixed up lol.

The Blu Inn also has a massive tower that usually has a red blinking light, but sometimes it's not on. It's pretty hard to miss, but a great way to find your way back to camp when you're out past Devils Slide or Shell Reef.
