I've been wanting to get a Ball Python for a while and since I'm finally moving out of apartment that doesn't allow any pets into my own house, I'm starting look a little harder. Any owners/herps in this place?

I'd love to get some sort of morph like a Pinstripe, Mojave or Lesser Platinum

Anyone have any personal experience with BPs or any of these morphs? Any breeders you can recommend?

    Look at build!
Cant help with the python thing, thoguh they are beautifull animals i cant get into wanting one, but i did have a black & white cali king snake and many cornsnakes & ratsnakes and even had a green tree snake. A guy i know down the road has turned his basement into a snake sanctuary and probably has 50+ species. He catches and sells them at shows

The local pet stores around here have pythons, have you tried looking at a pet store?

Good luck finding one, & i want to see pics!

If you want a morph best it it from a breeder not a pet store snake being usually these are wild bred captive birth. I had one and he died in a week and I believe he had breathing problems.

I had 2 Ball Pythons. Not sure of the sub breed. One was captive raised and the other was from a breeder. I never had any issues with them. I had them through college. My roommate knew one of the professors in the Lab he would mix up the sexes of the mice and have too many. In exchange for feeding and cleaning up I got all I could handle.
Then when I graduated I had a 6ft Red Tail Boa. Awesome snake.
Wife didn't care for them so I gave them to good homes.
    I do miss them.

Beautiful snakes! Found a 4 ft Garter (spelling?) two days ago, pick 'em up to say hi, then let him be on his way. Three kids and a wife is enough responsibility for now :)

Yeah, i'd never buy an "off the shelf" ball unless it was from a locally owned shop w/local breeder or documents.

Just a bunch of old crap
Here's a little western diamondback that I caught in my backyard and kept for a few months. It was only 18" long but extremely aggressive. Fun to watch it strike the mouse and just sit back and wait for it to die...

I've previously had a california king, ball python, and red-tailed boa. The kingsnake is highly evolved, and had quite a friendly and curious personality. I've seen mine agressively feed on other snakes and lizards. I didn't care for the ball python as much. Mine always seemed somewhat lethargic. The boa was my favorite, and reached 8' in length. She was a beautiful herp.

I went on to have a number of spiders after I had my snakes but miss my boa. I always entertained the idea of building a hot room and caring for some venemous species, but marriage, baby and a healthy respect for snakes will probably keep that from ever happening at this point.

That lesser platinum is a great looking snake, btw.
