small dent on the hood, new foglight bulb, roughed up bedliner, been smoked in, suspicious stains on the passenger seat, boogers on the drivers seat, dirty floor mats, girl doodles on the dirty windows, loose wiring
btw, the prerunner rear ends with the electronically controlled differential are fully locked when engaged to the point where my inside tire chatters while i'm turning (isnt good for the truck doing it too much!!), i believe that it IS a limited slip differential when the locker is disengaged but i could be wrong, it could be a standard open differential which is great for turning, but in low traction situations you arent going to go anywhere haha

i should add that in my experience with the locker off and disengaged, it does seem to have a limited slip differential due to my TWO tire marks when i slam on the gas leaving somewhere. but then again sometimes it just spins the right rear wheel....point is get an OEM prerunner rear end and swap out the gear set for a 3.73 or 3.90 if you want better gas mileage. it is probably only 1-2mpg difference between the 4.10 and 3.90, but a 4.10 to a 3.73 could be as much as 3mpg depending on how you drive

Well, that is partly true. All 2.7L PreRunners/4x4s (Standard and Access Cab) come with a 4.10 Rear Differential. The 2.7L "Mini's" come with a 3.31 ratio (Manual) or a 3.58 ratio (Automatic) on the rear ends.

As much as I love getting better fuel economy. I did buy a truck. I use the crap out of my 4.10 rear end (hauling, towing, flooring it, etc...). I am going to keep my rear end, but I will be putting in a limited-slip rear end (Detroit TruTrac maybe?).

I am not too sure on the math on this one, but that sounds about right based on the comparison of my truck against other 2.7Ls on here (gm3bow, GTiVR6r, TSUNAMI*22, etc...).

don't call me out you texan haha, i had a 3.27, then a 3.90 and then a 4.10 in my mustang and the gas mileage went down by about 2mpg going to the 3.90, then i lost another mpg when i went to the 4.10. obviously thats not quite a taco, but i know the math is there to back it up i just dont wanna do it

Well, ya know there is a slight difference in the Mustang and the Tacoma - like night and day difference. :p

Besides, if I wanted to call you out - you would be done for. TuRD. ;)

You know getting down to it just wait till warranty is up,then your safe to do modifications, then it won't matter. Leave it alone till then! Like my old time mechanic used to say leave the God Dam hood down! I swear he did!

i fail to see the difference between my blacked out 96 cobra with a 4.6l dohc v8 w/ 150shot of juice running on drag radials and even spinning those through 3rd gear after i heated them up, and my 4.0l v6 taco with an exhaust and stickers where half of it's spraypainted. i really just dont see the difference ;)

and as far as me being done for if u wanted to "off" me, i will admit that the midwest division of The Alliance is young, and perhaps underpowered like a taco with a 2.7l I4, but we will rise :D

Having problems getting it up? I don't need to know any more. :p

So, is your Mustang drag only, or is it street legal?

The Prerunner I got, no off road package has a 3.73 rear end. (2007) The 2008 does too. Maybe it is the Sport package that has the 4.10? Rich

i dont have it anymore unfortunately :( but it was all stock so very streetable, the only mods were the spray, a 4.10 in the rearend, a short-shifter and i wired the electric fan to where i could run it all the time. being an aluminum block and heads, it always ran best at about 170 degrees. the damn stock relay wouldnt turn the fans on til it hit 200!

btw, it was completely blacked out and had silver 95 cobra R wheels. the car was dark enough that sometimes on the highway i'd shut all the lights off and tail cars, then fly past them and after i did that to a couple friends they said they could hear me at night but they could never see the car haha...heres a couple phone pics of it

maybe it was the trd offroad and sport packages that have the 4.10. i'm not too sure which exactly came with what, i just read somewhere on here about the 4.10. you could figure it out if you calculated your speed, rpms, and the trans gear ratio

The 4.10 is only in the 2.7L 4-cylinder PreRunners. I said that in an earlier post...

Ahh geeze ! I feel a headache coming on, if you want a pre runner just go out and get one, Toyota can build them better than any hack who calls himself a mechanic, save one, Ivan Stewart, nothing but love for that man !!
