Gun Vault question

Need feedback on who's using a gun vault at home. Specifically, mechanical lock vs biometric/electronic. This is what I'm considering:

Gunvault GV2000C-STD Multi Vault Standard Gun Safe

I intend to mount it either inside the nightstand or in the closet right beside the bed. My wife won't want to sleep anywhere near it but she needs to be able to open it. Any spouses/girlfriends have any input?

I'm reading here I should get something larger than I need (I wish) but this will cover the upstairs and I'll eventually locate another unit on the ground floor.

I went with Lock Saf.
From reviews I have read they seem to be the most reliable in the fingerprint reading type.
There was a 2 month wait as they were backordered and it finally arrived.
Yes it works as advertised.
Cons are it beeps and makes a louder than I would like click when opening.
Seems to take a second or two to read the print and open sometimes.

In a high stress time the seconds will seem like hours but I prefer not to store a firearm unsecured so I accept the shortcommings.

That's pretty slick. Unfortunately a little out of my price range though. The unit I purchased has the electronic keypad w/ key lock. Most reviews were quite positive but a few knocked the gap between door panels and the battery life (8AA's). In the event I'm not satisfied I may look into the Lock Saf. Thanks for your feedback.

 

I have that Gunvault, with the sequential numeric keypad.
Fits under the bed perfectly, illuminated inside.
Just enought room for a govt 1911, spare mag, and taclight.
Works fine 7yrs after purchase with original battery.
Bolt it to the floor.

 

Good info, thanks. Are there holes on either side for a wall mount? How often are you using it? Trying to gauge battery life against usage.

 

Holes in the bottom...bolt to the floor.
I open it maybe once a month...not more... keep my sport guns in the big safe.
