Hey Tim we are doing a little scouting trip this saturday for the camping trip in June over the weekend of the 10th-12th. Can you make either of these?

Cameron I dont know if you have already or not but go to the guns & hunting section of TW and look on there. There are a few different threads about AR's also while I was looking google has a crap ton of info obviously lol. THere was one google link that took to me to a guys post about a whole crap ton of info on things to look for and such. Hope this helps.

Uzis and the like look so fun, but it seems stupid to buy something like that when it shoots 9mm or bigger. Just spendy. I think it would be fun to have one in 22LR full auto that I could dink around with, but that's it.
For that size of round I think it would be much more fun to have an MP5 variant.

For the AR, take a look at the M4 kits made by Delton. From the little I've read, they are a good economical setup for those who are mostly looking to plink. If you want more of an accuracy rifle or such, you will have to step up.
They start at 485 and you can add extras. You need a stripped lower at minimum.

there's a few three-point turns (and five-point if you're not lined right), but otherwise you are fine. The sliders make you breathe easier.

yeah i have been reading those gun builds recently. when you guys talk about "plinking" this just means going out somewhere and shooting around right? my "intent" for my rifle would be just for fun or when/if the apocalypse happens.

so far the only thing i took away from those threads is that i should get one that can shoot the 5.56 and .22

edit: also, im pretty new to guns in general, when you guys are talking about accuracy and stuff how far are you talking for an AR-15. is close like 100 yards? or 50?

I've got my two 12 gauge shotties. They kill ducks and clays. I love.

100 yards is pretty much the standard range for a rifle. Not an impressive distance, but still requires some skill. I've shot out to 500yrds. with mine. Gets real sketchy if there is any wind. That 5.56 is way to light and gets kicked around.

I suggest if your going to build it, go for .223. Screw any other caliber for an AR lol

IIRC 556 is just the round thats used more in the military and over seas. Basically the same as a 223 just has a little more of a kick than the 223. (more powder) Isnt this right? Idk im in a pickle... Cuz I need new rear leafs also so hmmmm

i thought it was get 5.56 because that way you can also shoot .223 but if you get a .223 barrel you can only shoot .223 because its too tight of a fit or something?

ya its my first time going so i'm pretty stoked
i think your talking about "rogers road" ithe start of it is about 100 yards off of the highway when you turn onto jordan creek. i haven't been on it in a while but its an awesome trail for sure. i took my truck up it before i lifted it and was completly stock so i dont think anyone should have any problems with it

What island are you going to? Been to Kaui and Oahu, if you need/want some pointers. Biggest thing is to watch out for crime regardless where you go. Serious Meth problems over there...they scout the tourists.

come on dude. really? born and raised for 21 years there and trust me i have been around. i do not see meth heads on the street everywhere i go. granted there are some bad parts but i mean obviously you arent going to walk down that alley. most of the drug problem is on the big island.

anyway i am pretty jealous of you timicha, i dont get to go home until august because im taking summer school. if you have any questions about hawaii lemmie know.

ok well kauai is a pretty rural place. chickens on the road, 1 stop light town, etc... really all there is to do on kauai is tourist stuff. which isnt a bad thing. beaches are fcking awesome and im sure you wouldnt mind laying out on the beach all day. you should get some good hiking in though around kauai, i would just check out the brochures they have at the front desk of where ever you are staying.

on a side note kauai is pretty good for wheeling lol

you should definitely try to go out on a fishing boat though. or try some shore fishing.
