Very nice! I know how it goes, too. Right place, right time, empty wallet.

Very nice carry piece, though. Trying to track one similar down locally to replace my XD .45.

Ay I was curious when cleaning your 1911 do u guys let the solvently COMPLETELY dry before the reassembly??? Also is it bad to have a little carbon left like a little on the glide rod and in a little in the magazine well... I'm pretty stoked just ordered some vz grips and mag well flare for my eclipse...

I wipe off all the solvent until the metal is dry, then apply oil or grease where needed. I tend to over lube, but that creates a problem as too much oil will just attract debris. By "glide" rod, do you mean "guide" rod? The guide rod gets just a light wipe with a lightly oiled patch, leaving just the thinnest amount of oil.

I just got an iPhone on Friday - lovin' it! Know what you mean about it thinking it knows what you want to type.

The 1911 is a little more complicated than newer designed pistols, but it's my favorite. Good luck with yours.

Please enlighten me as to how is something you can take apart without tools so complicated? Next you're going to tell me it's obsolete;)

    Sandman: a little carbon ain't gonna hurt a 1911.

Skytower: I hear ya! Not obsolete, and certainly not a Glock! I'm "old school" and my firearms will prove it. I have posted on just about all the 1911 forums, including the one in your sig. Been offline for a while though.

Get one for a safe queen, of you like. Mine cost 1k too, but I don't baby it. I take care of it. It gets carried on my hip as much as possible, anywhere I go (almost). It gets a de-linting every other week. It doesnt take much cleaning since i use Militec, even after i shoot.
A thousand dollar gun should last a lifetime. The finish may not.
