I'm liking the idea of blacking out my emblems more and more. Might have to try this tomorrow after I get the rear leaf TSB done. Any pics of magnetic grey metallic Tacomas with the emblems blacked out.

Wow this was an awesome thread too bad I did not read this first. I actually took my badges off then sprayed them down. After the two coats I applied 3M double sided outdoor tape and reapplied

you have to have the new style badges, the ones that are raised up from the paint. as long a u have them, the plasti dip peels right uparound it. did my badges a few weeks ago. thoroughly pleased. although mine didnt come out so glossy. more tacky lookin. but he said his had one run spot, meaning he obviously held his can a little closer and/or did heavier coats

Wow, talk about easy! I spent a great deal of time taping up my chrome grille in preparation for applying this wonderful product. Then, I laid on a light coat followed by 2-3 thicker coats over the course of the afternoon.

Finally, after allowing it to dry the recommended 4 hours, I looked at it.

    It looked like shit.

    Peeled off pretty easy though.

It's just so splotchy-looking. Hard to describe. It definitely doesn't look like a painted grille at all. The black is a really uneven tone even after curing for a few hours, and I never thought this before I tried it, but a black grille on a white truck looks WORSE than a chrome one.

I just thought it would be nice for people who are thinking of doing the plasti-dip craziness to read this before they do it, because I had a really tough time finding any real negative feedback on the stuff that stemmed from the application suggested on this forum. It came out ugly as fuhh.

Different people have different expectations... I'm blown away by how many people think spray-painting panels "looks good"... I would never, in a million years use a can of spray paint on ANY vehicle of mine. But, some people are perfectly happy with the look of it, so to each his own.
