    A small handful of select mods.
    First screw the rubbing and just get the damn 285's.

    Second - cutting and beating doesn't hurt that bad. If you want help I am good at it. :D

    Third - You could also look at an aftermarket bumpstop for for your lower control arm to limit your upward travel.

    Four - Aftermarket fiberglass fenders for the front. :p

    The problem I have is, I want new tires, but eventually I will regear to 4.56 and will want even bigger tires. So I am saving money and planning to run 17x9s. That way I can easily step up to 295s or 305s.

    on the 1st gens there's some metal right behind the wheel protected by some plastic that looks like it'll rub hard on larger tires...it's a vertical round piece of some sort within the wheel well..dk for sure
