Thanks, me too. My goal is to have a look something like this...

Although before I spend money on cute bumpers or a roof rack, mine will be straight axle up front

that would be pretty damn sick. i love how the rack looks on top of runners. i really want one for mine.

side note - yesterday i was at winco and i saw an older yota with huge tires, possibly 37s, lifted over 6" and had a tube thing around the rear like the runner. it was a poopy faded green color

Yeah, that belongs to a buddy of mine from high school (I'm a local. *sigh*). He bought it as-is. It was originally a V6 but the people put a built 22RE I-4 in it. He said its got quite a bit of power but there's just no way you can have "quite a bit of power" when you've got a 4 cylinder pushing 37s

I do like those last-generation toyota pickups before they became tacomas when they are straight axled. It's a cool looking truck. I just question his judgement for buying a rig that has been that heavily modified and not necessarily well..

The 22RE is definitely the better motor IMO. With the right gear set up and a strong enough clutch it will put out plenty of torque for a crawler. Which is what it definitely looks like that truck was built to do. The fact that he uses it as his DD definitely takes a lot of the sense out of it.

Plenty of people will argue with me about which motor is better. But the 22RE is much simpler and easier to fix on the side of the trail. I would run it in a crawler before I put the 3.slow in it.

Who the hell was he renting from? A rental shack along the beach? I can't believe any of the major rental companies would be like that.

I worry more about the marijuana growers.
My friend works with ODFW tagging fish, which takes him out into forestland. He says there's places where you see little hoses sticking out of the ground in the middle of nowhere which means you immediately turn around and hope there's no scopes looking in your direction.
I heard a firsthand account of a guy's friend who got killed with a shovel in Amity.

Watch out for those pot fields, kids.

Amity as in just a few miles north of Monmouth on 99? Shit.

What do you mean by hoses? Like irrigation hoses for watering the pot plants?

it's been a while since I talked to him about it, but from what I remember he was out walking with a new hire and they came to a hillside. He tripped over something (from his description sounds like it was similar to fuel line) and the new hire said, "what's that?"
My friend starts looking and notices there's some more length of hose semi-buried, then another, before he realizes it's soaker hoses for a crop... but what would people grow way out -
"turn around and walk back to the truck. Now"
