I wish I could do that, but they don't work my hours or go out as far as my house.

Don't bother trying to hide it in your back yard (unless you have a barn). Just dump it all into you swimming pool and then use the pump to fill up your truck (remove chlorine first). ;)

See, diesel here is so much more expensive...about $2.50 for regular and $2.99 for diesel...

Comparing my old 1998 1.9L TDI Jetta to a 1998 2.0L Gas Jetta, diesel would have to be twice the price for it not to be worth my while to have driven a diesel engine.

Besides, you can make biodiesel in your back yard legally and run a diesel engine off of it. You cannot refine oil into gasoline without tons of permits, restrictions, taxes, and other bueracratic paper pushing.

There are a ton of advantages to diesel over gas. You can read some more here...

I see what you mean...I guess the trade-offs are worth it...do you still have to wait for glow-plugs to warm up in those things?

so i just finished off that tank that i put in last week, i managed a whopping 300 miles with a gallon left so there is 15mpg again. i just filled up again but i put in 3 ounces of acetone just to see if the stuff actually increases gas mileage, plus it is fine every so often to help clean out the injectors and whatnot but this is the only tank i'll probly use it in. and ndcouch, my crotch rocket gets about 35mpg beating on it all the way to 17500 rpms haha

I had to wait about 2-3 seconds in 20 degree weather in Colorado, but that was an older engine. The new ones (04+) are so fast that you don't even see the light. The new-new ones (08+) are much more powerful and efficient. They have a glow plug system that is supposed to be faster than the 04+ system.

I am thinking about getting another Jetta TDI or a Tiguan TDI as a second vehicle in a year. I just wish I could drop a TDI in my Tacoma. It would be the last vehicle I ever own. :)

I am really curious to see what the acetone does for you. Where did you buy it? (I'm guessing you didn't just use nail polish remover.)

If gas gets too bad i'm gonna buy a bike, but not a crotch rocket. just an old underpowered touring bike and i expect 60+ mpg since i will be driving it like an old lady. I hate motorcycles but i'll get one if gas hits $5.50 per gallon

I know what you mean...if it hits $5.00 per gallon, I'll be the fattest moped driver on record.

Heck, I thought about trading my car for a bike when it went over $2.50/gallon a couple years ago... Damn NY winter was the only thing stopping me. Wouldn't be real fun driving a bike in 6" of snow and ice.

Now that would be cool! I would ride the hell out of a quad

As far as bikes go i would probably just end up getting one of those big mopeds that will do like 45mph

Last fillup I got 18.5 regular rural/suburb driving. I got an 07 4x4 crew with tow pack so if I see 21-22 Hiway I'll be happy! I think what I'm getting is fair for this truck!

Ok, just wondering what everyone is paying for gas these days. I live in Humboldt County, California (northern) and gas today for 87 octane in $3.45.
