Why do people blur their plates?

I see it all the time on this forum...people blur out their plates on their truck when postinging pics? WHY? What are people affraid of? By this logic wouldn't you people who blur out plates in this forum want to caover up your plates driving down the road? Can someone explain to me?

 

Lots of evil spiteful people on the Internet.it's scary how much personal stuff you can find on line.I guess one less way for people to do bad things

It's doing the same thing the "Do Aliens Exit" post is doing....getting TRAFFIC!!!

 

my theory is some people have really nice mods on their truck and there are probably ppl who lurk our forums who may want to steal them.

Lets say i post a pic of a brand new race radio i installed on my truck. If im driving down the street, ppl wont know i have that in my truck. but if they see it on my build and see my license plate #, then they could find out where i live and break in and steal it.

As my father in-law would say "Locks are for honest people" but i say "dont temped a theif" they dont know they dont try.

i never blur my plates because im too lazy. but...there was a case where a race truck was stolen on ttora, and the only ppl who really knew how much it was worth were the ppl on the forum cuz it looked like a POS unless u knew all the $$$ that went into suspension and comm equipment. You never know.

 

This is the most logical reason I have heard on this question-I never thought about that. I have erased mine in the past simply because I saw others do it and figured they had good reason well there's a damn good reason!

Well one reason to do it is in case you really piss in someone's cheerios, it makes it more difficult for them to put a name to a screenname. It's not unheard of for people to take online squabbles into the "real world"; whether it be messing with someone's employment, security, etc.
