cool...yea after going up the big hill near the end of kane creek canyon, the need for re-gearing has moved its way into my list and looking at pricing between having it installed and find someone willing and able to help with the install (if the project is doable outside of a shop environment)

    A few bolts are different.
I dont think I will regear from 3.73's. The crawler case is something I definitely want though.

seems like install on a crawler case would be more...but would keep the gears more favorable for daily driving...doesn't seem like people complain too much about daily driving with the 4.56 gears...idk this is new territory for me

More expensive for sure but I dont really care to regear to 4.56. If I were to regear I would be looking for a set of 4.10's from a 4cylinder Tacoma. The 4.10 w/ 285's would be right back around stock ration with 265's.

The crawler case is just badass and takes gearing down to ridiculous low for ultimate control while not beating the shit out of your truck.

Gears are close to the top of the list for me. I am either going for 4.10 or 4.56. If I jump up to 35's then 4.56 is definitely the choice. With my 6speed I feel that its needed just to decrease the wear on the clutch from starts and get some low end torque back. It will be this winter or next summer before I am able to do it. Let me know the pricing out there.
I believe it was Jace that said there is too much involved with getting the gears set perfectly to do it on your own. Might be easy to get to them and take them off but risk in tearing them up if you don't install correctly.

I got some estimates for front and rear gear installs and the price ranges from $2200-$2800. That is including all of the work, parts, seals, fluid, etc. I would put a ARB in the front, so tack on $900ish, plus the cost of plumbing the front diff. I am willing to bet you could find someone to do it for $1000 a dif. Some of the Jeep guys actually use people that post their services on CL. Then you have to break the gears in, with slow, steady diving for 300-500 miles.

A Crawler could probably be done at home, in a garage. The added expenses would be having custom drive shafts built.

    Bone stock for now!
Your looking about 1600 in parts with 2 ring and pinions, 2 master kits and for me a Detroit locker. If you get charged more than a $1000 labor total and that's high your getting ripped off.

Yep. It just depends on where you want to go. Do you want to have Jim-Bobs Auto Service setup your gears, or do you want a well known shop to do it? Who is more likely to stand behind their work, if they screw up?

Also the post above shows that someone payed $1500 for labor, so I would guess $1000-$1500 in labor charges is common.
