Thanks!! I am truely grateful for the information. I am happy that you are now doing well :D. I will also keep the thyroid in mind, thinking I should get tested for diabetes too after some reading I've done. Again there isn't any history in my family, so I'll probably have to ask/insist on the tests. I'm not sure if the blood work I had included anything for thyroid, I'll find out. An internist was mentioned, I think I'll look into that after all the tests come back and see what they say. I'm worried they will come back normal and the doc won't keep digging without my insistence.

 I'm confused why the doc ordered a fecal occult blood sample, which is done for gastrointestinal issues, which I didn't complain of. I didn't know that was ordered till I got to the lab. But I'll do every test they have :).

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You have or had a murmur? Does your current doc know this? I am assuming yes. It is common to have a murmur. Sometimes they come and go with the aging process.

Do you drink Diet drinks containing Aspertame/Sucralose? I was a skeptic weather artificial sweeteners would make a difference, but I gave them up because it was easy enough to try. I was having similar issues. My heart would flutter and I couldnt sleep.

Good luck. Most otherwise normal young and healthy people often overlook simple habits. Someone your age probably doesnt need meds. Unless they are used to save your life, they can often be worse than the actual problem.

    Good luck.

My buddy who was 18 at the time, started getting extremely tired and flushed all of a sudden while we were BBQ'ing. We helped him inside his house and clowned that he had been drinking too much, but decided he should go see a doctor. Not sure what his illness was but his heart rate at rest was twice as fast as it should have been if he were exercising. They gave him tons of pills to take something like 5 or 6 times a day. Then they mentioned that option of having his heart restarted, giving him a 50/50 chance of making him normal or possibly killing him. He thought about it and asked me what I would do, I can't lie I told him I would rather take the chance and get restarted than live on all those pills. He went with it and is prefectly fine now, waiting on his twins to be born. There was no point to this just that sometimes this shit just happens. We'll be praying for ya.

I had one doc note that I had a slight murmur years ago, I wasn't ever told anything about it, I was just reviewing the medical records I have at home the other night and saw it, so my current doc does not know yet. It was never noted by any other docs and never showed on any other physicals/tests I had later.

I do not drink diet sodas and I don't use artificial sweeteners. I cut down on soda a few months back, never noticed a difference if I drink a lot or a little of them.
I've been going to a chiropractor for a few months, mentioned to him that I was having pains in my chest and thought they were from the muscle spasms in my back, he mentioned magnesium defeciency would cause muscle spasms and chest pains. I started taking a mulivitamin a few weeks ago and it seems to have helped with the muscle spasms, but not the chest pains.
I'm willing to consider anything anyone mentions. Thanks for the thought.
I haven't started taking the meds yet, but I'm not feeling any better and actually worse at times, so I don't know if I should try them or not. I was going to wait for all the tests results.

Thats what happens to me at times and why I started getting concerned. I'll be sitting at work not doing much of anything and all of a sudden get really hot, flushed and start sweating and I could feel my heart racing. I'd usually just wait for it to pass then I'd get really tired. I notice now if I get hot I'll start to feel sick and my pulse will get high, I have to keep water with me to help when I feel ill. I use to always be cold, now I'll start sweating while not doing anything and everyone else is cold. My heart rate has been measured around double the normal without any activity. I never heard of restarting the heart, sounds scary. Glad he is doing better, Thanks for the story and thoughts.

I'm a little frustrated now, I called to make my appointment with the cardiologist and the 1st appt they have is March 4th...2 months from now  unfreakenbelievable. I should have my lab results back next week sometime. It's going to be 3 months before I'm back to my doc with all the tests to figure out what might be wrong.:mad:

Giving you an apointment in March is their way of telling you you have nothing super critical to worry about today. Relax and wait it out. Stressin over it ain't gonna help your heart.

Actually the people making the appt have no idea what anyones situation is, the referral from the doc says the appt should be within 30 days, but the appt setters don't give a damn about anything no matter what you tell them, they just say "that's the soonest we have available" that is their answer to everything. If you try to tell them about how crappy you feel or how concerned you are they simply say to go to the quick care for treatment, all the quick care will do is an EKG, say its not normal but you're not dying yet and to take the meds. Of course I'm just going to wait it out and try not to stress but it is hard not to stress when you feel badly. :(

    grrr...
or heart diease is a VERY common problem in the u.s. i think its the number problem in america.
on my moms side, all of my moms uncles had heart surgry. so i will most likely have heart problems in the future. i eat a shit load of salt, i love bacon. i maxed out my heart at 205 bpm. i can run for miles at around 150-170bpm with certain breathing methods. and i have like a 12 pack a day on average.

have you ever had a axiety (sp?) attack? i get them sometimes, im pretty sure its an lsd flashback, but my heart feels like its pumping like at 80 bpm, but pumping really hard (not fast) like its about ready to come out of my chess.

This is an area I don't understand also, they can call and you MUST go to surgery right away, but then is a scan is needed you need to wait for an opening.

In our case and the P.E.T. scan, yes we knew my wife had cancer in her breasts, but when they stated it may have spread , I wanted the tests NOW.
But that is not the case, everything work out for the best, but it made me a walking basket case.

Maybe you could convince the doctor's office to call the cardiologist to make the appointment? Other doctors often get quicker results than us "normal" folk. Or, you might see if the cardio has a waiting list of people to call when an appointment gets cancelled--I've gotten faster appointments that way once or twice--works best if you can get there on relatively short notice.

I'm aware heart disease is VERY common, but most people with it have risk factors, life style factors, family history, previous conditions, etc. I have nothing. I have been an athlete all of my life, I have always had a reasonably healthy diet, I never smoked and very rarely ever drink, my family is pretty healthy (grandparents are in their late 80's with no problems), I rarely get sick.
Now I can walk for less than 5 mins and have a HR over 150, highest I hit that I know of was around 165 and felt ill so I had to go sit down. I'm afraid to know what it would get to if I ran for any amount of time . You'd think with a HR that high just chillin I'd be losing all kinds of weight, forget needing to do cardio I'll just watch TV, sucks it doesn't work like that :p.

I've never had an anxiety attack. I've never done any drugs in my entire life either :D.

Yup, if you are already diagnosed with a condition they will sometimes get you in quicker, but for dianostic testing to determine a condition they take their time. Then the test comes back with bad results and they scramble to get you treated.

They do have a program for quicker appts with cancellations, I've always asked to be put on it, but have never been called early. I'd get there within 20 mins of them calling any time of day since I work at night I don't have to worry about getting there any time and I tell them that, doesn't seem to help :(. Never asked the doc to call though, guess I can try that too.

I tried making appointments for 8:30AM....the very first one of the day. Turns out they use that slot for the couple they didn't get to the day before. So I tried 1:00PM, first one after lunch. They don't come back at 1:00 from lunch, they come back when they feel like it.

Annoys me doctors can treat you anyway they want, make you wait for an hour in the waiting room, then another 20 minutes standing in the little exam room reading more than you wanna know about COPD. If we were an hour late they'd cancel our appointment and charge us for it anyways! I think car mechanics, plumbers, etc. should ask if their client is a doctor...them make them wait an hour and a half reading two year old National Geographic mags!

I just asked for the 1st available, didn't care what time or day.
I usually never have to wait for my regular doc or my obgyn, I've showed up 20 mins early and been in before my scheduled time and out before I should have been in. But I have been to docs in the past that it was sit here and wait now sit in here and wait then they come in and never even look at you, rush through and hurry out the door. I understand they are busy, but they choose that job and they are dealing with peoples lives. They wouldn't make their family wait and treat them like that, so they shouldn't do it to others.
My Chiropractor is the nicest doc ever, always has time to chat, greets me by name when I walk through the door, asks me about my life and remembers the conversation on the next visit, wish he was a regular doc! :D

My Chiro. thinks vitamin/mineral defencies, so I started a multivitamin and I'm trying to add even more veggies and fruits to my diet.

But with all the labs saying normal it just adds more confusion and worry about the Echo. but also good to know all my other organs are functioning correctly. ;)
