It's supposed to be a great phone. The Galaxy S is getting great write ups and reviews. The S II will do the S about 4X better.

I have the counterpart of that phone, the Atrix 4G from AT&T. I don't know how your phone in particular is but the Atrix and yours have the same processor. And it is powerful as heck. So powerful to be exact, that there is a soon to be game just for the Tegra 2 phones (ours) that have the same graphics level as the consoles. That is pretty darn well. :p

Actually, the processor the US model(s) will be shipping with is kinda up in the air. It's been reported that some will ship with the Samsung dual-core, others with the Tegra 2.

The Samsung is running @ 1.2Ghz, but no word on if the Tegra 2 will be running those clocks as well.

I was going to import an unlocked, unbranded SGS II from the UK, but held off after hearing that NFC was disabled on UK models.

The SGS II however, got leaked by an accessory manufacturer... for AT&T, it will be called the Attain. ;)

As long as they don't lock up the bootloaders like Motorola did with the Atrix it will be my next phone.....

Loving Gingerbread JVO on my Captivate. I would love to see it working on that processor combo with Custom ROMs and Kernels///

By october the S2 might seem old and outdated! I upgraded back in january and I kind of wish I'd waited since the phones out now blow my tmo G2 away.

What do you think of the Atrix overall? I've been debating getting that, or the new Blackberry Bold coming out in August.

I bought one a few weeks ago and its already loaded with Cognition's 2.3.4 custom ROM and ninphetimines 2.2 kernal...The thing is a beast. and the best part is unlimited data with MediaNet on Att because they do not have the IMEI in their data base being unbranded and unlocked.....$15 unlimited data at 1.5 MBPS is fast enough for video streaming.

Great device..... I had the Captivate before (still have one on custom ROM for the wife.) I have put my Itouch 4 in moth balls .....LOL However you HAD to flash a custom ROM to make the captivate work like it should otherwise it was terrible out of the box. Mine was running an i(000 version of Gingerbread and was fine until the S2 came out and blew it away.

The thing is with these handsets is to use the open source abilities and learn how to flash your own FW. I never downloaded an "official" update from Samsung. The developers on XDA are waaaaaaay ahead of the Samsung code writers. Motorola was forced to unlocked their bootloaders because many of those who use Android want to customize our devices for our own use and that means in many cases wiping the device of all things Carrier based and manufacturer based as Cyanogen does)

Battery life is about 10 hours and you MUST charge every night and/or like myself leave extra charged batteries here and there, or even better run an app called Juice Defender Ultimate which easily gets a couple days use out of the phone but I don;t know anyone who doesn't charge their devices at night anyway

Looking forward to the Galaxy s3 in the Fall.
