Do I need the TSB?

I went to Lowes last night and bought an assortment of pavers. The majority were 6"x9" and some where 6"x6". 90 in total. I think it was like 60/30.

I didn't realize until I got to my parents house that the truck was LOADED. I felt like I may have bottomed out once on our great Louisiana highways.

I am assuming it was about 400 pounds. I didn't have a scale to weigh the stones.

Here is what I was looking at.





Is this normal or am I pushing the weight of the bed? The picture blows :-\

 

Good idea to get the TSB if you do alot of hauling. Sounds like you need it if it bottomed out with 400lbs.

 

small pavers are about 4.5lbs each - 135lbs
The larger ones are about 6.7lbs each - 402lbs
So probably about 525lbs or so.

These are the thinner, 45mm thick ones

The thicker ones would be about 700lbs.

As this is being discussed in other threads, if you rarely haul, and want a more "car-like" ride, keep the factory springs and deal with the occasional issue.

If you regularly haul stuff in the bed, and dont mind a "truck ride", then look into getting it done.

 

Sounds like you need it to me. Do it and you won't regret it.

 

Are you still under warrantee? If yes....then GET IT.

You paid a lot of money for that truck and deserve a better leaf pak to support hauling what the truck is supposed to haul.

I would say if you like the ride of the truck normally don't get it done. It will lift the back a bit and you will have a raked unlevelled truck without a load forcing you to buy new shocks for the front to level it out and then the ride will be stiffer unless you are carrying a load..... I would put that money towards an Airbag system instead.

Sounds as if you, like me, as a home owner only do that kind of heavier hauling a few times a year. Look into those Firestone adjustable airbags.
When you load the truck pump em up. When you unload, release the air and get your carlike ride back. IF you want a semi free lift go for the TSB and find a place to install the front shocks.

If the ride is only harsh when you are loaded I would not worry about it unless you are always loaded.

The answer is still yes .

 

I would get it done. You won't notice a big difference in ride without weight in back, but much better when loaded down.

 

Hard asses..? Canadians are not whiners and poseurs like Americans either. They likely actually use a truck for its purposes....at least Toyota thinks so.

 

I'll contact the dealership I got it from. I do mow grass on weekends and when I load the mower to the front of the trailer, it does drop a BIT.

 

I think a lot of us Americans would be too afraid to put a little scratch in the plastic bed...to carry a heavy payload of bricks. I would bet more Americans "Armor All" their Tacoma truck beds than Canadians...

 

For sure get this done. I just did hours ago and couldn't be happier with the improved ride.

 

Anyone know is the 2011 was part of the TSB? I dont carry much in the summer, but in the winter I like to add a few hundred lbs of bricks to my bed for added weight.

BTW, anyone else add weight in the winter?

 

2011 is included in the TSB

 

I didn't notice a harsher ride after upgrading mine- I suppose if your looking for it you'll feel it...

 

I brought it to the dealer and they ordered the parts. Hopefully all goes well.
