Fucking thieves broke into my truck at work yesterday, shattered the window and bent the door frame with a crow bar all to steal my $100 GPS.

Problem is that my address was programmed in the GPS, so now I'm wondering if I need to go buy a gun and a doberman to protect the rest of my shit. I'd love to find some way to put video surveillance in my truck, bait the fuck that did this and take a crowbar to his grill.

they only took the GPS? Did they grab your regestration or any other paperwork as well? It might have been just a tweeker looking for something quick and easy to sell.

The only thing missing was the GPS. They scratched the shit out of the center console when they yanked it out of the truck. My iPod was still in the center console, they didn't touch that or anything else. My insurance wasn't adequate to cover this. My deductible was more than the cost of the window, tint, GPS. I've changed my coverage though, so that if anything like this happens again I won't have much out of pocket.

The fucked up thing is that I work for a security company. My company just spent thousands to have a fence put around our campus, but they didn't put up any gates, so anyone that wants to get in, can. On top of that there are no surveillance cameras in the parking lot.

thats the exact reason why I didnt put my EXACT address in my gps as "home"..I just put 1, then my street name. It just comes up to the first house on the block. If I cant figure out how to get home from there, I'm fucked.

Sorry to hear about your ride man. Some got me in broad daylight while downtown and got my address off a paystub. Short story is that they came to my apartment 4 months later. I wanted to bait mine too man but I didn't. I was glad when I got my house and moved from the complex.

i always set my GPS "home" to a an alternate address - few streets/blocks away. Sucks when thieves are so messy and fuck shit up.

    I think that's a great idea. I'll bait the bastards with work's equipment. :)

Yea I'm pretty disgusted with the whole situation.

yup, next time I won't be putting my address in there.

Were you there when they came to the apartment? Or did that happen after you'd already moved?

I think you and your property have a reasonable expectation of safety at work. File a claim with your company or their insurance company.

We had a tree fall on a coworkers car at work. The company and the landlord were pointing fingers at each other but finally paid. The tree had been reported as a possible danger earlier.

I your case, a fence around a parking lot indicates the employer knew there were some sketchy folks wandering about.
