body lift?

I just voted on this poll but I have no idea why

 

I think the reason most would have to disagree with the body lift is due to the fact that it affects the safety of the vehicle itself..as seen in the pictures posted.. sure you can wheel them hard..but can they take a hit at 35,25, or even 15 mph when compared to stock? Don't believe so..

Body lifts are crated by satin and given to us tacoma lover for cheap like candy to kill our selfs.. LOL

 

Yeah, get a big tall one where you can see tons of airspace between the body and frame, it'll be easier to clean it after wheelin.

i put a few body lifts on full size blazers back in the 80's they look good with asuspention lift .fabbing new bumper brackets is amust! also make sure the body is centered on the frame or u will have problems on the highway.

 

I have a 4crawler 1'' body lift. I havent had any problems with it and it looks great. If you were gonna get one, i wouldnt go over 1''

not neccessarly...... to my knowledge there isnt a 9" suspension lift for tacos...... so you need atleast 3" BL

You take the weight of the cab, which is normally distributed across the whole frame, and put it up on blocks which allows the floor to flex, kind of like a trampoline effect. Over time as the cab flexes the metal fatigues and one of two things happens. Either the spacer comes up through the floor, or the bolt head and washer rip through. You won't be able to see any tears forming around the washer unless you take your carpet out.
If you are going to install a body life I'd recommend making washers out of 3/16 steel the same diameter as the spacers, that way you can see the tears in the floorpan before it kills you.

 

Correct me if im wrong, but the body only touches the frame at the mounts where it is supposed to, it doesnt sit on the entire frame, only the mounts. When i installed mine, the pucks are about the same size as the stock body mounts, therefore i dont see a huge problem with them ripping through the floor. Unless of course the pucks are very small. Im not saying body lifts are good, but i dont see a huge problem with getting a 1'' if your not doing 80 in the desert and jumping. All i do is crawl, therefore the BL suits me well. And yes, i do wheel, i am not a mall crawler.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the body mounts...I would go no higher than 1-1.5" for a body lift. As long as you keep the lift low, get a quality lift and install it correctly then you should be fine imo.
