I'm a capable adult female, and I don't own a gun. I'm seriously considering it though complete with concealed carry permit.

That would be funny. Maybe what I need is a trunk monkey.

Any recommendations? I'm considering all options.

I was noticing everyone here calling you dude or man , I guess they can't read!

I'm not familiar with alarm systems very much at all, but I've heard Viper mentioned a number of times on here. Might wanna check it out.

The lesson is, don't leave valuable shit in your car! Always make an effort to hide your things either by putting it inside the center console, stash it under the seats, or take it with you.

i have a basic viper alarm. its pretty good. if the door is left unlocked but the alarm is set, once the door open an obnoxious alarm starts and if you bang the window itll go off as well. i like it, also beeps 4 times when you disarm it to tell you the alarm was triggered at some point rather than the normal 2 beeps

Apolgies! I didn't mean any offense. Capable women should also consider owning a firearm. I'd be glad to field any specific questions you might have, I teach CCW and NRA Basic Pistol classes infrequently, and shoot very frequently.

Uh, don't you know that you NEVER put your home address into a GPS?

Mine is set to the local police station. I figure I know how to get to/from there from my house pretty easily. And if someone steals it and goes looking for the house...well, good luck.

Other popular "home" locations include nearby major interstate entrances/exchanges.

Sorry for your trouble OP. I dunno about other states laws but I keep a copy of my vehicle registration in truck, but the address is not on it, only registered owner. that way thieves can't find home address using that method.

    That sucks. :(

While the damage and what is stolen pisses me off, the worst part about being the victim of theft is that some douchebag dared fuck with your stuff... you almost feel violated. Makes me rage!

I leave my truck parked at work for weeks at a time...and nothing is left visible aside from a coffee cup.

As for the Garmen home address, we just put in address of the local police sub station:)

Sorry for your misfortune. Hopefully they catch them. I wouldn't be so quick to change your coverage. The money you have saved on premiums by having a higher deductible probably paid for this damage and then some. I've had a $1k deductible for as long as I can remember and have saved well over a $1k in premiums over the years by having a higher deductible.

I have heard about theives like this before. They will only steal a GPS in an attempt that yoir home address is programed into it. They will then watch to figure out your work schedule and break into your home while you are working.

Im not saying this is going to happen to you, but stay alert

Maybe they all thought the picture in my avatar was my girlfriend? :p

Yea....I think I get it, thanks.

No offense taken. You weren't the first one to call me "dude". :)

Yea, when I buy my replacement, I'll be a bit more clever about what data I put in it and I'll secure it with a PIN.

I absolutely feel violated. So much so that I'm looking for a hidden camera system for the inside of the truck and a dummy device to bait the crooks with so that I can catch them.

My beloved Trek 8000 was stolen once but recovered after I found it on Craigslist and contacted the bastard as an interested buyer. That is when I contacted the cops and went with them to meet the guy (media stated I was an undercover cop, wrong). He played dumb and said he just bought it but everything he told the cops contradicted his CL ads I had saved. Mark your stuff, hunt them down and get your crap back. Daniel Shafer was later found guilty of driving with a suspended license and possession of stolen property.

    Bone stock for now!
Go to car toys on 104th Mally I think. Ask for Robert. Tell him chris with the Tacoma sent you and he will take care of you. Best deal in town. Also tell him to have Mo do the work.
