Anyone have experience with Blackberry phones? In specific, the Curve 8330.

After 6 months with my Samsung Intercept, I've had enough of this phone. It refuses to hold a charge, shuts down/reboots randomly, freezes upon incoming calls so you can't answer the phone. I've had to install apps to replace everything stock on the phone from the loader, to the messaging, email, browser, ect. and it still runs like crap. I can't edit contacts on it without it freezing and aborting the process. Wifi doesn't work worth a shit neither. Worst phone I've ever had, don't ever buy one.

Found a good deal on the Blackberry Curve 8330. I know its not exactly the newest phone on the market, but for my needs it looks sufficiant. I like having a smart phone because it makes keeping up with school and work easier, as well as having GPS. I plan on getting an Otterbox for protection, as the one of the girlfriends iPhone 3gs kicks ass.

I had a blackberry tour and thought it was a great phone. After switching to an HTC Incredible, I could never go back to Blackberry again.

So, if you are looking for a cheap phone that works, the Blackberry will work just fine. If you want something more, there are a lot of great Android phones out there. Just get anything with software version 2.2 or later.

My Intercept has Droid 2.2, and in a better phone I think it would be a great operating system. This phone just is soo underpowered that it is practically unusable at times. I have a budget of roughly $50, the Curve is $49.99. HTC seems to make some great phones though, all the reviews I've read have been pretty positive.

Honestly, I want an iPhone, but since my Sprint phone is free to me, I'm not switching networks. I hear the iPhone 4s is coming to Sprint early next year anyway.

8330, is that the Gen 1 Curve or the Gen 2 curve? I have the gen 2 Curve and I'm pretty sure it's 8350(?)

Believe it would be the Gen 1. Ebay link, seller has great feedback and this seems like a pretty good deal.

It's probably a good deal, but my experience with the rollerballs on the Curve 1's, they have all fallen out over time

I own the BB 8530...its a bastard sometimes and freezes but other than that its a cool phone. I hate touch screens and this thing notifies me when I have E-mails & FB Comments plus the internet and all that other BS which I like :D

I've heard that as well. I wonder how difficult a repair on that would be? Have a close friend who is very tech savy who could probably do it.

Also, Costco's electronic trade in program will give me $25 more for my Intercept than I paid for it, so I'd actually make a little money getting rid of this phone.

My contract was renewed in Oct. when I got the Intercept, still got another year and half until its renewal time again. My Dad pays for my cell phone so I didn't want a 4G phone because it's a bit extra each month, and I can't afford to make up the difference. The Intercept was priced really well and was both a smart phone and had a full slide out keyboard.

Some companies let you renew early to throw out old contract and start with new one, can't hurt to ask
