Hi all. I just had to replace my second set of rotors and brakes within 40k miles. Now they are warped again. I have heavier 33" tires and 18" rims. Any recommendations on a better rotor and brake pad set up that can handle the heavier weight? I've done a search and came across a bunch of people talking about Power Slot rotors but I'm not sure which one I need to get. Any idea on the part number? Any advice and help would be much appreciated.

Autoanything.com has them. PWR-126.44129SL and PWR-126.44129SR. I had the same problem with my truck and installed Power Slot discs with Hawk pads, world of difference.

Okay... I am on Autoanything and they have two kinds of rotors... One for $123.00 called Power Slot Slotted Rotors and the other one is called Power Slot Cryo Rotors. I'm assuming I don't need the Cryo treated ones since I'm not doing any major racing.

Also what type of Hawk pads are recommended?

X2 on the EBS Slotted and dimpled. But I prefer Hawk LTS pads. I had both on my Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi Sport quad cab and always towed 30' boat. They never warped and have great performance. I will use the combo on my new Toyota TRD Sport... but I only have 600 miles on it!

EBC is good stuff, I use their products on all my dirt bikes. I use Power Slot and Hawk on my racecar. Either one is a great choice, just use whatever is cheaper and you'll be set.

I had Powerslot and Hawk on my Altima and I will be using them on the Tacoma shortly. Personal preference but you can't go wrong with EBC, Hawk, or Powerslot.

If I go with the powerslot rotors, should I invest in the cryo treated ones or is that overkill? I do 40% street driving, 55% highway, and less than 5% off road.

Yea I consistently have this problem. When I first bought my truck used, they warped and squeeked within the first 4 months. I figured maybe the original owner never serviced his brakes. So I replaced the pads and resurfaced the rotors. 4 months later, after some mudding/offroading and rainy season, and downhill mountain driving, the rotors warped again. So I swapped out the rotors with some OEM ones along with new brake pads. Then after a few close calls on the freeway and a few situations where I had to come to an abrupt stop, the rotors warped again in 3 months. Maybe this is my fault but my buddy with a 2010 tacoma is even worse on the brakes than I am and his are perfectly fine.

I'm leaning towards the EBC Sport Rotors that are slotted and dimpled w/ Hawk LTS pads. Or should I go with EBC Green pads?

    Haha...not doing it...can't make me!
I had this issue after an 85 lb rim and tire setup. The stock wheels were ~60lbs. I went with basic rotors and soft pads, havent had a problem since. The softer pads wear a little faster but they work great.
