Antenna went MIA... Need a new one

I was replacing the air filter in my Tacoma today, when I noticed that my antenna was missing . I don't know if someone broke it off, or if it just came loose and fell off.

Anyway, I now need to find a replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should get? Would it be better if I just buy a replacement from the stealership?

They make stubby antenna's. They look pretty nice too

 

When i got back from my last deployment i noticed mine missing. Asked my mom about it and she thinks that it broke off in a car wash. I was looking and about half is still in the hole. Went to the dealer and they wanted to charge $200 to get it removed. I will just be getting a stubby one when i get back and call it a day.

From what I have read, stubby antennas reduce your reception.

That may be a possibility, but I don't know of any where I live.

Can anyone recommend an antenna that they have had success with?

 

Mine got destroyed in a car wash. The dealer wanted $45 for a new one, so I just went to Vato Zone and bought a universal one for $10.

 

Cravenspeed.com has stubby antennas but I have not had good luck so far. It looks good but the reception is terrible. I contacted them to return it and they offered to pay return shipping but wanted me to try an isolater between the antenna and the base. The customer service has been great and hope this makes the reception better. I think if it was longer than 4 inches the reception would be a lot better.

 

same thing happened to me but it was my HAM antenna and it went flying in the whoop section

 

Update on the antenna from cravenspeed.com. The isolator came in and it made a huge difference. It's just a little o ring looking piece but the reception is way better. The factory is a little better but can only tell when trying for a station that was hit or miss with the factory antenna.

 

i have my stock one laying around somewhere in my garage ... you can have it if your ever in the area ... or if i ever go down there to a coffee chop or something =)
