need help- front bed bolts

I purchased a used 06 trd sport about a month ago.

The bed was missing the front two bed bolts. The back two with the d-rings located by the tailgate were there. So I purchased the two bolts from toyota.

Went to install them, put them in the hole, and they dont touch anything. Its like a bracket or something is missing.

Could someone tell what their front bed bolts connect to?

 

Maybe some nuts and washers that aren't there. Leave the bolt in the hole and climb under your truck to see whare it's at.

 

i can see where it is at just looking throught the fenderwell. The way the bolt is threaded doesnt look like it would use a nut to hold it. Maybe I am wrong. Trying ont to walk up to a strangers truck in a parking lot to peak underneath

The bed bolts bolt right into the frame.

How did you like paying $12+ for those bed bolts? They must be made of gold or something.

 

illl have to look at the bolts and frame again, seemed like they didnt reach.

ya 12 is a rip. Funny , they tried charging me 41 for both. I went online and found them for $12, so they re looked them up in the comp and had them listed for 12, 17, and 21.

 

Did you notice the bed rattling around when you were driving? My friend had his truck worked on at the dealership and one of the things they did was adjust the bed so it looked straight. Well they straightened it alright , but they forgot to tighten the bed bolt behind the passenger side, even with that bed bolt in, that bed was bouncing up and down on his frame making all kinds of noise.

 

bed does not move or rattle at all. the bed mat has the three quarter circles cut out so that the bed bolt holes are visible. I have an after market pace edwards sliding hardtop bed cover that locks. The previous owner put it on. Wonder if they took the bolts out for some reason.

Ok, I am taking a shot at posting pics of the situation.

First pic is the bolts with the package showing what should be the correct part number, second pic where the bed mat is cut and u can see the bolts missing.

Third pic is looking from the fender well at the bolt placed in the hole. You can see it being barely long enough to touch the frame, and lots of threading that is no where near touching anything.

Yeah, something is wrong there. It should thread right in. I'm kind of at a loss here...

FYI: The reason I am familiar with this is because I cross threaded a bolt while installing D rings and had to get a new one. It started threading with probably about 2 inches still until flush.

The picture you show almost looks like the drain hole for water. The bolt that goes to the frame is more towards the front corner of the bed.

Yeah, that's not the bolt hole. It should be further back, more towards the tailgate. That looks more like a hole the previous owner drilled. Look at the rough edges.

 

I have a Roll-N-Lock retractable bed cover. I drilled two holes in that same location to accomodate the drain tubes from the carrier that holds the cover. For when it rains or any water gets in the carrier.
