    Any burrs on the inside of the plastic boot? That would eventually rub the paint off.

    The plastic boot seems to be trapped hard against the side of the shock , I can't move it at all .

    just check that evrythibng still looks lined up n tightend as it should be...
    i wouldnot worry about it....
    it must move when the suspension is in travel

    Those boots are pretty hard plastic. If the boot has no play and possibly has burrs = bye bye paint
