Great article. I think the biggest reason for a lot of these hit from behind problems is when the offensive player has the puck, they turn and face the boards to protect the puck. As a player, we were always taught growing up that you keep your shoulders perpendicular to the boards and you are less likely to get hurt. Nowdays, everyone has their face in the glass to begin with setting themselves up to get hurt. I also think it goes back to respect for your fellow players. You can see that piece is missing with a lot of these hits.
Oh well, until someone gets seriously hurt nothing will change. So off my soapbox I go... Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

I met Mr. Fraser once. He's an interesting guy and a referee whose opinion I respect. In the instance of the McGinn penalty, I agree with his assessment.

NHL officials receive a video debrief after each game and I'm sure if the NHL thought otherwise, Watson would have heard about it pretty quickly after the game (and you may not see that crew through the rest of the playoffs). If you're not aware, the officials are rated throughout the season and during the playoffs. To be chosen to officiate during the playoffs means you've done pretty well during the season. To advance means you've done exceptionally well.
