 I feel your pain. I have to drive atleast 40 minutes in any direction before I can offroad legally. And finding a website that shows all the trails in Fl is impossible. It makes me mad enough to move somewere 4x4 friendly.

That sticker does not even look very official, and neither did the white gate. Did it say who the land was managed by?

We seriously need to unlock San Diego's back country. I too am tired of finding locked gates on trails. I wish those god damned drug smugglers would pick some other routes too. It's because of them many of the trails are locked up.

i feel ya. if you want to do anything other than mudding (i hate mudding), you have to drive a minimum of 2 hours one way. needless to say, i get a log a lot of highway miles.

Out here in east county there is a bit of a problem with private land owners "fencing off" Access to public use lands via easements/fire roads/legit trails etc; Their land borders public land open for use (including offroad) & they are in violation of CA. land use laws, why people haven't inquired (myself included) is now something I'm considering..

Ha, Your Public Lands... Closed to Public

I agree with Lrgrnr, go to the public meetings and do something about it. We got a ton of public lands opened up to dirt bikes and ATV's when I was younger.

I'm amazed by all the "public" land in other states. What's the deal with that?

I don't think there really is any "public" land in Texas. If its owned by the state or a city, its a park. If it isn't a park, its privately owned.

Around here, it is the property owners responsibly to mark what they own. It is also against the law from them to block access to public land on an established route.

Here is a link to this exact situation. A trail is now closed and people are in court, even though the trail/route has been established for as long as anyone can remember.
