Don't know how much truth there really is in this, but one thing is for sure: If the pharmaceutical companies can't patent and profit from it, there's no way they'll acknowledge a discovery. They might even be downright hostile to it.

Consider medical marijuana, which Big Pharma campaigns to suppress and outlaw because they can't patent it, and because it works (and works well) it cuts big into their profits.

Just like Big Oil, which actively lobbies against alternative energy subsidies (all in the name of limited government, of course) but screamed like stuck pigs this week when a few congressmen dared question why an industry earning their highest profits in history gets $4.4 BILLION in taxpayer subsidies every year.

Capitalism absent morality is the greatest single threat to the planet today.

 

There is no money in the cure.

Well said My aunt is a pharmaceutical rep and it's sad how they operate. It's more profitable to treat then to cure. That's the modo they have and I don't see it changing anytime soon

they'll tell you that they care, ie environment,pensioners,veterans
