 both of my tacos were made in Baja and needed the TSB. 07 and 09.

seems that you got a US model taco? one of the other canucks might be able to attest if they were able to get toyota CA to do the TSB.

guess we didnt get the memo that the tacomas built in Baja are guaranteed to be "Baja-proven" and can climb vertical cliffs while carrying 1500# and not sagging.

I'm confused. Some say that their 2010 have the TSIB but for some reason mine doesn't? When I bought it a couple of weeks ago I asked if it was done but was told mine wasn't part of the TSIB. There's three leaf pack on there now. Mine was made at NUMMI in Fremont, CA if that helps.

None of the US trucks come with the TSB 4 leaf pack installed from the factory , period .

The Canadian trucks , 2007 and newer all come with the TSB 4 leaf pack stock .

I think the confusion is that DavidK claims that the trucks built at the Baja plant come with " an improved 3 leaf pack " , this is not the TSB pack , and so far he is the only person I have heard from that claims the Baja 3 leaf pack is superior to the other 3 leaf packs .

Thank you for this. Looks like my truck should qualify and despite the fact that my dealer said it doesn't I called the Toyota number and spoke to a man who researched it and said that my truck would be under the TSB.

He opened a case for me.

I appreciate this link, this really really helped me out here.

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
Part numbers for 3 and 4 leaf packs are in the TSB pdf, so if you're wondering if you have updated springs or whatever, print out the pdf and take a walk out to your truck. For reference, where it says previous part number and has 48210-###### and 48220-#####, that means any spring starting with those numbers, the last numbers don't matter. My pre-TSB springs ended in 04550 but again, it doesn't matter as long as they start with 48210 & 48220

Unless people are greatly exagerating there must be something to it, although I have no idea if location is it. The OP claims his truck handled 1,500lbs just fine, Whippersnapper02 says his bottomed out with 1/3rd of that, both 3 leaf packs. That just seems way to large of a difference to me. Either somebody's math is way way off or Davidk is onto something.

Okay so I just got back from the dealer (not the dealer I bought it from). He asked me if I had an appt and why I was there.

Me: "Um...I called earlier and she said to come in because she got an email from corporate. I was told by a group of Tacoma guys (lol, YOU guys) that there was a TSB for the leaf springs and since my dealer told me mine wasn't qualified, and corporate said it is, I'd like you to check it out please?"

Him: "Okay what are you experiencing that makes you feel this needs to be addressed?"

Me: "I'm experiencing all this talk about the leaf spring pack TSB and the fact that I was told mine wasn't one of the ones listed."

Him: "So what makes you think yours qualifies?"

Me: "The fact that it's listed HERE on this TSB and it says trucks with THESE prefixes of the VIN and mine is on there." *shows guy a copy of the link posted here*

Him: "But in order to write you up I need to know what the problem is. Did you have a problem with it under load?"

    Me: "Um...." *hesitates*

Him: "I mean, did you hear or feel anything when you had something in the back of it?"

    Me: "Well I uh....." *hesitating*

Him: "Ma'am, I need to put SOMETHING on here as to why you brought it in. DID YOU HAVE A PROBLEM OR HEAR ANYTHING WITH IT UNDER LOAD?"

Me; "uhhhyeah....." *grabs printed TSB bulletin* "With a load, I feel bumps when I go over a bump on the road."

So he writes me up, has the truck inspected. After about an hour he brings me into his office for a chat. He showed me a list of parts that he ordered and will call me when they come in.

I asked him what it was exactly that qualified me for the TSB. He simply said, "Your VIN number. It wasn't on your owners record as one needing it but it does have the serial number that is on the list.

    Wow.

    Lesson learned here:

If you have a gut feeling, and everything else points to it, keep insisting. Imagine how many would have just taken no for an answer.

Thanks again for that link, jhodge. I would not have otherwise pursued this. :)
