Please Join Us in Our BLM Battle…

SNORE needs everyone’s help. We are in a critical battle with the BLM at this time; our Midnight Special race permit request has been denied. We are fighting this denial.

We are asking everyone to please send e-mail letters to:
    ... secretary@snoreracing.net
stating how this will affect the economic impact to your business and community if this permitting for race events are denied.

We need 7000 letters in 48 hours so they can be included with our appeal.
Please act on this critical, time-sensitive request IMMEDIATELY!!!!
    Thank you!See More

hmm, thats a weird move on behalf of BLM. Maybe this is just them extending their hand of power, reminding us who is in charge? I was just at a race this past weekend, nothing bad happened.

Unfortunately, this has become more common. Not just the BLM but the Forest Service has also been denying permits after collecting enormous fees. Very often, after the event has been advertised and folks have signed up and it's ready to go off.

The Forest Service just ass-fucked the people that run the Fool's Gold Enduro (motorcycle event) by telling them the event could not collect entry fees...WTF? How the hell do they think someone can put an event like that on without collecting entry fees? So the Fool's Gold people have made it free and are asking for donations.

You can (and should) write your local assemblyman, state senator and the board of supervisors in the county the event would have been located in. If there's an email address, encourage others to write and if you can, provide an example as that's often a way to incent others to do the same.

You should also support groups that lobby on behalf of OHV access. Groups like Blue Ribbon Coalition and local access groups can use your support. Donations of time and or money are incredibly helpful as are responding to requests to write letters.

As for this particular event, attendees should be encouraged to write as well. If you were planning to stay in a motel or eat in area restaurants, buy gas or groceries, you should detail an approximate amount you were going to spend.

I don't want to sound like the "sky is falling" but with budget cuts and increased opposition to all things OHV, we need to take every opportunity to make our voices heard in as many places as possible.

    Good luck with your fight.

They've been trying to shut down desert racing for as long as I've been involved in it. The drivers meeting before the SCORE Primm was 100% about following BLM restrictions and protecting the desert tortoise in both 2009 and 2010.
