FYI Make sure you keep the tank topped off through Kansas. I almost ran out of gas in Kansas on I70. We spent the night in Salina and I filled up that morning when we left, I was getting horrible Gas mileage (in an Xterra) because it was so windy. I only got 190 miles on a tank and almost didn't make it to a gas station. Be sure to fill up when you hit Hays because there aren't many gas stations until you almost get to the CO border.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
    I got a 6 but I respect the 4 bangers. Each has a purpose. If I didn't tow so much I'd drive a 4 with no regrets.

Couple of full 5 gallon gas cans would probably be a good idea as a reserve. Mac is right, your MPG will take a hit and if you run into heavy winds, it'll amplify the problem. Just my thoughts...FWIW

Good call I think I will do that. And I'll just tell them I'm towing a civic or something.

Just to build the OP confidence a little bit. I drove to St Louis last week and pulled a U-haul trailer up there empty and a camry on it for my wife back in one day( about 1000 mi round trip). I averaged 14mpg both ways seeing how i was pulling an empty trailer with A/C one way and with the car on the trailer on the way back. My truck did fine, i was able to cruise in 6th about 70mph most of the way except for long inclines.

For those of you pulling U-Haul Auto Transports, did you use any type of stabilization bars? Will my truck (v-6 with tow package do OK towing a Wrangler +/- 3100 lbs) pulling the transport/jeep without a stabilization device?
