That's the worst! The gym I go to doesn't have Versus either which is the reason I'm not there right now .

 

I have been a long time hockey fan here in the Bay Area. When the Sharks came to town, they started with two sheets of ice for their practice facility. That now has 4 sheets (and a nice restaurant/bar) and the Sharks have picked up Oakland and Fremont sheets (Oakland has an NHL sized rink and an Olympic sized rink). Fremont has one sheet.

The Sharks also have youth travel teams as well as adult recreational leagues and high school leagues.

Between all the sheets (7), they can barely find room for games--this is a far cry from the "before the Sharks" days when you could find pickup games in a number of places (there are several other facilities that are available in addition to the Sharks Ice however, most of them are smaller rinks and primitive by comparison )

So as far as warm climates, I think you might be a little off. Especially in markets like ours where hockey competes with basketball, baseball and football.

I do agree that if you are a player, the game matters more to you.

Agreed. Somebody thought I meant that in the hunt was the same as winning a cup, (how they confused that is beyond me) and then explained themselves. I just stated that we are always in the hunt, not that it is the same as winning a cup.
Seems obvious if you can read, but you'd be REALLY suprised.

I agree with you I just dont see the warm being a hockey town. I understand people are fans everywhere. I have alot of respect for those atlanta fans trying to save there team last week. Personally I would love to see the winnipeg jets again. I remmeber growing up it was fenway in the sunshine and the boston garden ( not td garden) or whoever the idiot is that changed the word garden to gardha we might talk different but we still spell correctly I think. I cant spell and Im gonna use runon sentences.

Just my two cents here but when you watch a San JOse game on the tele you notice that they don't have to hand out a bunch of shitty t shirts to the crowd to make it look like the fans didn't just hop on the bandwagon. You see a lot of REAL jerseys like you do in other American markets with well established teams.

Bruins are 0-4 on their power play. Tampa is 2-2 on their power play. Bruins need to step up their game. It's definitely not over yet, but they can't just sit around like in game 4.

Boston is overdue for a PP goal, 4 for 60 on the PP (including tonight) in the playoffs. Phoenix only played 4 games and they got 6 PP goals.

Well, that was when the dollar was stronger and the player salaries were more competitive here. Maybe Winnipeg will have another team? I'd like to see that.
