Not really. Austin is as close to that terrain as it gets thats in reasonable distance. Its more the style used to ride trials though. If that makes any sense. We cant all live in Cali. Ha.

No, no mountains but just because the overall topography is mostly flat doesn't mean all the trails are. Some shit is dug out & some shit is piled up & the trails can follow both depending on the layout. Both equal elevation change. Let's just call it trailbiking in unpaved wooded offroadness.

BTW, mud & slop is highly theraputic & can be had without leaving major rutting. Enviromentally stable areas are fair game when wet. Enviromentally sensitive areas should be avoided when wet. I've ridden many places while pouring down rain & left no ruts. Gotta know where you are & what you're doing.

I practice leave no trace of passing everywhere I go whatever I do. Obviously there's no fun pushin your bike around & trompin thru caked up shit so bad your wheels won't roll all ruttin shit up. Pointless. Some trails lend themselves to wet riding, some don't. Sandy ones are OK wet, some mud is OK wet, some isn't. I'm also not hippocritical telling people to not tear up shit on a bicycle when wet but go hop on a quad, motorcycle or hop in the truck & go tear up some other trails either. Rutting is rutting, wet is wet. Way less environmental impact with non-motorized vehicles so let's keep all this in perspective. I find it fairly comical for people on an offroad truck site, to a large degree, to be warning of not tearing shit up with a bicycle.

Have you ever tried out Jack Brooks? You can youtube some of the trails. Anyway, it has some fun trails if you are in to it. If you want to check it out, hit me up and we'll put wheels to the dirt sometime. Just let me know.

I'd roll down there for a good ride if you guys want to meet up sometime. I have two buddies that might be interested as well. We could do a camp/weekend ride too maybe.

If you want a good ride I would suggest we hit the trails of jack brooks. Lets plan and put wheels down!

I've got me one of these bad boys....I'll literally ride anything with it. I do enjoy a technical climb but I don't want to ride up the side of a mountain face. I don't know what everyone's skill level is but I say we ride something where everyone can safely make it but we're not just a touring sausage fest on wheels.

Jack Brooks is in Hitchcock Texas. It is for Intermediate riders but I went out there when I considered myself a beginner. I am only 2 years in to riding so I am intermediate at best. Jack Brooks, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B303xWdGT80&feature=related ,is a fun choice (up and down plus technical obstacles) but if we wanted to ride somewhere where we could grabs some drinks after, I would suggest somewhere like Memorial Park or even downtown Houston for something really smooth. Those that are interested in a ride, check out http://www.ghorba.org/trail-info/where-to-ride Let me know what you think and we can set something up that works for everyone.

It would be a long drive for you but if you like riding trails, I doubt you would be disappointed. We could always meet up at Huntsville for a group ride. I've never ridden there but I am up for trying it out.

Are there any nice trails in your area worth the drive for us?

Ok so it looks like there are some people actually interested in putting together some sort of group ride. That being said I say we put together some dates and a location that works for everyone interested. I personally suggest Jack Brooks or Memorial Park. I'd be willing to test out Huntsville too though. And as far as dates go, my work schedule is flexible enough for me to roll with whatever works for the majority. Lets make this happen!

**Above, where I posted the youtube video, I also posted a link to a list of Houston area trails as well as the majority of the state. Check it out and see where you might want to ride. I'm willing to drive as long as I end up at a trail that's worth it.

Hey guys, I do a little bit of riding. I am working on moving to Houston (currently up to my ears in job applications), so hopefully this thread keeps active and maybe I can join yall for a ride. The Huntsville trails look nice. I went camping there in March when I came in for the Warrior Dash. I have friends who live nearby and ride it everyday-literally! I can't wait to get back up there and try them out. :D

Sure thing I'll keep you posted. Good luck on the job hunt. Judging by your toy in the profile pic you should be pretty successful at the hunt. Ha. Just keep in touch.
