What are used 2nd Gen Tacomas Selling for?

Used Tacomas are very pricey here in Utah. '05's going for $21K, '08's $26K-$29K, I saw a '09 selling for what I paid for a new '11. What's the market like in your area? There seems to be a shortage of used trucks.

 

I just bought a certified 09 tacoma trd off-road, double cab, for $23.5k. After taxes and fees, it came out to be about $25k. By the way, I'm in virginia.

 

About the same in California.

 

Im trying to sell my 08 4x4 access cab with 87000 miles for 18,500 here in mississippi.

 

20K for a 2008 TRD 4dr automatic 22500 miles, maui.....

 

There are plenty of people in Colorado trading in their V8s for our Tacomas and their V6. I have seen trucks like mine: 07 AC Sport V6 with 50K on car lots, going for $25K! I have been offered a few times, $20K for my truck. If you need a V8 truck, come to Colorado and get one with low miles for around $20K!

 

Alot! Lol they have been looking for a 09 or 10 dc for me for a week and have come up empty. Apparently a mag gray is hard to find in a sport or off road. He said with the price it will bring that I would probably be better off buying a new one. that sucks!

I bought my 06 two years ago in Utah. It's a PreRunner so they don't hold as much value as a 4x4, but I only gave $15k for it at the time, had 70k miles on it.

 

Got my 07' private party. about 16,000. Dealer prices were ridiculous here in the Bay Area (CA) So I just waited it out and found one for a decent price. it was was way worth it.

30k for an 08. This one is overpriced, but they hold their value extremely well up here.

 

When I bought mine, it had 41K on it, was barely 4 years old by production date, brand new tires, and was freshly detailed. The only big negative was that it had been smoked in and had a couple burns on the interior. I paid 17,500 for it, that was KBB fair value for private party. I bought it from an auto broker in Santa Barbara, CA

At the time, it was about 3K cheaper than anything else on the market. Mine is a TRD Off Road, which is about a 5K dollar option on a new truck I believe. Other private parties and dealers were asking 20-22K for the same truck without the TRD package and with more miles.

Seems to have gotten a bit more reasonable lately with fuel prices up the way they are.

My advice to anyone wanting to buy used is to know exactly what you want, have the funds ready and then wait for a deal. Took me a few months, but worked out okay for me. The guy was simply ready to sell the truck and didn't want to sit on it.
