It is doable in a stock FJC. Should be doable for a stock tacoma. For those who are a little timid to try the obstacles, the first 2 obstacles have a bypass but the 3rd obstacle does not and can be done stock with no sliders. Just more rock stacking but as with wheeling, shit happens. Worst case scenario for those who feel as if they don't want to risk it, you can just leave your truck on the trail if we decide just to do the loop back. We went wheeling there one time at night and one of the guys just left his rig and rode shotgun till we came back down the trail.

This is the 3rd obstacle without a bypass, looks deceiving from the pictures tho:

There are stock FJs. I just didn't get any pics of them, but I assure you there was two stock FJs with us. One was completely stock with street tires and the other even had running boards. The running boards barely survived. But as with all trails, things could change for the worst or better. As for the altitude it is roughly about 4500 ft at the beginning but climbs to above 5500 ft I think. There will be snow. When I was there this past sunday, the snow was lingering in the shaded areas. Looked doable as far as I could tell. Just did not want to risk getting stuck because I was alone. Will get a better idea of trail conditions this coming weekend.

Oh ok.. yeah I think at 5500 it will probably be ok. Cant wait to try out the new gears on the trail. Too bad my skids wont be in by then.... well maybe.

Hey Cha, which trail is it from Kyburz up to MET?

I've been on the one out of Silver Fork that goes across the bridge at the campground and ended up on MET coming out on Alder Creek Rd. But I can tell you that there's no way you can even get to Alder Creek Rd on MET right now (well, maybe Jerry could:D). There's another road that goes off of Hwy 50 down near the waterfall (bridal veil), what 5 miles east of Pollock?, that comes out on MET too. I was checking that out last weekend from the MET side (comes out across from Pillikin Rd on MET). I was able to go a little way down (hugging one side due to the snow) until I hit a big patch and didn't continue. I don't think that there are any others down lower that head up to MET from 50 (other than Park Creek which is just dirt with mud puddles out of Pollock and Silver Fork Rd out of Kyburz which is paved).

And while we're talking the trail is doable in a stock truck, remember that FJs are a lot shorter! I'm game, but it may be questionable with my DC LB. But I'm willing to park at the end if need be.

FYI, I may not be checking the thread too often thru the weekend. Relatives arrive today for my daughter's graduation and will be here thru the weekend.

I don't know the forest road disignation number I think it is 11n18 but becomes 11n40 or something like that. We call the trail Long Canyon. I belive it was once a road of some sorts. I did not get too far into the trail before running across snow and was alone so I did not risk it. As to the conditions of the trail, I will report back with more current conditions when I get back from camping there and attempt to see how far I can go alone again.

Yeah, I see 11n18 which climbs the mountain off of Silver Fork Rd (Silver Fork Rd is the paved road coming out of Kyburz going to the top of MET. There are a lot of roads up there (many off of Silver Fork and the road going from Silver Fork over Packsaddle Pass and down to Strawberry). No way you could go all the way to MET or even Strawberry on those roads due to the elevations, but they're paved anyway (Silver Fork joins MET at 7K foot elevation). 11n18 is in the Long Canyon so that makes sense on the name too. Looking forward to seeing how it is from your observations this weekend.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

Yeah your the only one that will be tricky that dam LB we will just have to do some rock stacking to keep your rockers away from the rocks. We won't really know until we get there Like Cha said just the last one does not have a bypass so that's the one we will have to do some stacking for you.
