ok, i'm thinking about adding some roof racks to my new cap when i get it (leer 100R) does anyone know of any aftermarket racks, or have used ones to sell?

also if you have any ideas on the best way to mount, or what to watch out for while mounting them would be a great help as well... thanks guys

I got the Leer 100 RCC with the DeWalt ProRack roof rack , it was installed at the Leer factory and is a through bolted system .

Not sure if you can just do this particular rack style yourself , without voiding the warranty

You should be able to take it to a place that installs them (if you're looking for yakima/thule type racks?)
You can also get them installed as an accessory option when you get the shell. that's what my plan is when I get my leer his summer.

I put a Thule system on mine. Thule track system. Thule Tracker II Feet with TK1 fitkit. 58" load bars. I bought everything used off of ebay except for the tracks I had to buy new from Amazon.

I installed it myself. Just find the centerline of the roof (use the brake lights as reference) and mark it with masking tape. Measure out how far from center you want the tracks to be and mark that with masking tape. Tape down the tracks where you want them, then drill your holes. They include instructions on how to do all of this.

It also helps to have two people when you're tightening the bolts to bolt down the track. One to hold the allen wrench up top and one person tightening from the inside.

My Cap (Leer 100R) came installed with "artificial rain gutters" on all 4 corners. Here is the link. They're gusseted and sealed so water can't get in, and load bars fit over top to which you could attach a roof rack or similar. They work well, and the load is placed on the side of the cap rather than the roof itself. Hope it helps

I just had my new Leer 100XR installed two weeks ago. I spent a little more for the installed Thule tracks and I'm putting together a Thule Bike Rack system. I have already purchased the TK1's, 430 Tracker II packs and a 6 lock pack. I've looked all around for the best pricing and thus far I've been taking advantage of REI's sale and been getting smokin deals on clearance items (TK1 and the 430's). I'm debating on the length of bars, either 50" or 58" load bars. I'm eyeballin' a set of 518's off Craigslist and if I don't get those than new 516's will do.

Your doing the right thing by asking around and doing research. Good luck!

So there is no confusion , my cap is the commercial version of the 100R , the RCC , the roof on mine is reinforced to carry 400 lbs , you make a good point about the system you have transferring the weight to the walls of the cap for the regular models .

Excellent point. The first dealer I went to told me that when I got the Thule Tracks installed that the roof would be reinforced for 400 lbs. Of course he had no idea what he was talking about. That and the required 80% deposit caused me to bring my business elsewhere.

Just did mine. I don't like the tracks so I just measured and drilled straight into the shell.
    Way cheaper too.:D

I just ordered my 100R last week, I optioned in the rails from LEER as I wanted a rack but dealer said warranty would be void if I drilled through the top. I didn't order the towers/bars through them though as they were expensive, I'll try to scoop up a cheap set off ebay/kijiji.

One route I was considering was from another guy that bought his cap, then went to salvage yard and bought a roof rack off a wrecked 4Runner. I don't have details but for $20 it seemed to work for him. Apparantly it fit well.

Since I was buying new the last thing I wanted to do is void my warranty right off the bat so I talked the dealer down to give me a good deal on the rails.
