I think I might try the eibach/ome nitro setup. Has anyone tried this or heard of it? I looked at the 5100s but dont like the idea of them goind stiff after ~20k.

 

Awesome thread! So I understand you get 1.6" lift from the Eibach spring, is that with a DC 4x4? What about OME 884? Also which shock gives a smoother ride OME or Eibach. I'm kind of leaning towards the 5100 / Eibach combo but may want closer to 2" so would the small top plate spacer be a good idea. Or should I just say WTH and get Icons or Fox CO's. I just dont want too stiff of a ride. Right now its a daily driver and will only occasionally be used off road.

Hey Oz-T,
I have the same style trucks as yours and am considering the same front lift that you've done. I saw in another thread that you reported 2 3/4" lift out of this combination (I hope I'm correct here).
Did you make any changes to the UCAs and did you have any alignment or handling issues?

I'm really looking to level the front end as I already have the TSB leaf springs. I'm just concerned that if I "spring" for the 884s that I may regret not getting the 885s. Is the ride any different between these two?

My front settled to a 2 1/2" gain , I went with 885's no spacer

I did add the LR UCA's at the same time .

 

Hey chris4x4 i really like the idea of running the 5100 at 0 with the 885 coils but i just wanted to make sure that i would get a full 3" lift out of it and be able to still run my 285/75 16 tires. I have a 05 DBL cab and i know that on the toytec web site they say that for a full 3" with a dbl cab you need to have that top plate spacer for the 885 coils

 

then i could run a 2" lift add-a-leafs and 5100 for the rear and that would work?

What spring would be best to use for my first gen dbl cab v6 with a winch and bull bar? I'm looking to use 5100s and get just 2" of lift.

 

I am running the 5100's set at 0 with the OME 883x and they ride great !! I got just a little over 1 3/4 in of lift after 3 months of being in the truck . Just my .02 cents . Oh yeah this is on a 2011 BCSB Prerunner TRD off road.

 

i stopped reading after the 1st page and skipped to the last page.. the only reason i see running the billies with the ome coils is to save a few bucks. now that's all fine and good for ppl if its a must, but why try saving $100 or less when doing this? if ppl are that broke maybe there are better things to be doing with money than lifting their truck..... imo anyway... another issue is the taco lean, the ome trim packer cannot be installed to the billies, most of the trucks lean and ppl whine and complain about it, yet another reason to do it right.. anyway to each their own. i have seen more shat about ppl busting billies than omes up front. do it right once. i did it three times, the last one was the right way - full ome with the exception of rear shocks, went with something else but that is not the same as the front!

 

why bother?! look to the ome 883x with a small top plate spacer for the extra little lift if needed. get the trim packer on the ds to help the lean while you're at it. i run 884x on my reg cab with a steel front end and steel sliders for the extra weight up front. what truck are you running? i actually added small top plate spacers up front with mine and am just under 3 inches of lift after a yr.
