Damn, guess the backside gate of pine valley is closed. Guess I'll hit up that kitchen creek trail Doug was talking about. Definitely want to hit up a possible water source.

correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the Border patrol has all access around the buckman springs checkpoints closed, I do alot of prospecting/hiking in those areas and have never seen the gates uptop unlocked.

No, your right if your talking about Kitchen Creek to Mnt. Laguna, been closed for years, sucks too nice long scenic trail & it was the alternative way up to Laguna when CHP would shut down Sunrise hwy. because of snow/ice, But you can go Kitchen creek to La Posta truck trail still...;)

I think he is referring to the trail at Buckman springs road that is closed at the top! other than that i dont know what he is talking about! And @ Gabe, where or when did you see that the Backside of pine valley was closed aka Pine Creek rd.? We were just there and go there like every other day and it is always open! some of the bypasses are locked nut not the main road! 14S04, 14S05 there all open, the only one back there that is not open is 14S02 which leads up to Mt Laguna Desert lookout!

My old man and I took a ride out to Sheephead a little before I joined the site I think or a little after?? Anywho- we initially went out there to take Buckman springs road to Bear Valley rd. to Pine Valley rd. Damn thing was closed so we went up the Sheephead Mountain (Glider-port.) We should check it out again. Trail linkage is sickness.

Hey gramps whats up ??:D Carrizo is awesome too but have you ever done that Coyote Canyon trail outside Borrego Springs ?? Its just like the jungle boat ride at Disney land, I kept waiting for a Croc or Hippo to stick its head out of the water, def. going back in Sept. when they re open

I dunno man, they're talking about triple digits all weekend, I'm pretty much done with the Dez. for the season (maybe night run though)

Silly me, I am getting old... I don't even have my Tacoma right now! It is in the collision repair shop for a week getting the damage fixed from when that motorhome sideswiped my parked truck! They are also going to try and make my chrome bumper look better (that was twisted out at Mision Santa Maria last year)!

My rental is a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee but a 2WD one :(

Too hot?? Don't you have A/C? A night run would be great, but you would want me in front, otherwise my lights may melt your paint off!!
