First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
The FJ is powered by a 4.0 Liter V-6 producing 260 hp and 271 lb.-ft. of torque. Same engine as our trucks.. so some software magic? Definitely listed as 260hp. And runs on regular fuel.

Missed that. Yes, the dual VVTi in the new FJ, ours is single.

its not the same engine, Buddy. It has Dual VVT-i, as well as some other internal differences.

    Win for us!!

Both the new 4Runner and FJC are based off of the Prado 150 frame. Fully boxed ladder frames FTW!

Whats cool about them is the engine compartment is designed for either right hand or left hand drive so we've got a nice spot for another battery!!

IIRC, the 1Gr in the Tacoma has a bit more torque.

I think the reason for the towing difference between the Tacoma's and the FJC/4Runner is the coil spring's on the rear of the SUV's v. leaf springs. Or the weight difference between the truck bed and the suv body over the rear wheels.

    Just speculating though.
