Thanks for all the input guys. I've pretty much been talked out of it. Lookin at a 2001 R6 now. 25000 miles. Small damage. Guy wants 3000 for it.

I could have sworn the 2001-2002 r6 had a different undertail with LED taillights. Might want to check the VIN.

I got that exact bike with 30K miles. It didn't run well because the last owner didn't take care of it. Started burning oil on me and had a huge flat spot around 9K rpms. I sold it because I want a fuel injected bike and it's pretty bulky if you like twisty roads.

buying a used tacoma or honda (vehicle) is one thing, buying a used jap sport bike is another... i personally dont do it bc the break in period is crucial to the longevity of the bike life in terms of functionality and reliability.

chances are some idiot bought it new with an 18.9% interest rate and it got repoed, or wrecked and sold. i would be willing to bet, the rings werent seated properly and the engine is fucked beyond all repair. hence the oil leaks, etc. DO NOT BUY THIS POS. get a new bike or buy from someone you know who broke the bike in properly.

Get this looked at by a mechanic that you trust. Do not buy until.
Also the MSF is a great idea, do not buy until you have taken the course. You might want to look at a ninja 250 or one of the new honda 250's. You can get them brand new for the price this dude wants. I think the new 250's look pretty sweet.

those ninjas are bomb proof. That is what I learned on before jumping to the 600cc bikes. You can actually rev those bad boys out and not be doing 120+. If you can ride them right they keep up with the 600's on the twisties. I still own my ninja 500 to let my bro ride it. They are slightly sketch on freeway but I bet the new ones are way better on freeway. Not to mention my insurance for just liability was 100 a year.

the new ninja 205Rs are widely available. go to another delearship... not to mention, the 250R is one of th ebest bikes to resale bc someone somewhere is ALWAYS looking to buy an entry-level sportbike.
