I'm waiting for the 12's... I like the engine more, and am hoping they take some styling q's from the forerunner - think it's going to look better. that's only my guess though...

This is how I would respond as well. Also, we wouldn't necessarily see a camouflaged version of the taco since any testing of a new engine could be done in the body of the current model. Toyota doesn't seem to have a lot of vehicles out where the.paparazzi can take spyshots. I don't recall seeing many 4 runner spy shots. One or two maybe. Besides, Toyota also doesn't seem to release things till last minute. I hadn't heard anything about the corollas taillight changes until I saw them on the road. Nothing at the car shows that I saw. I'm sure Toyota wants to keep a tight lid on things, especially any taco updates.

I definetly want the newer engine, and my hope is the styling is similar to the forerunner... IF that's the case, I think it will look better... similar to this when lifted (yes I know, this part is conjecture, as I wasn't told nor have seen this info - I think asking for pics wouldn't go over well):

    +1.

That's the safe thing to do, and why I ordered my 2011 instead of waiting for the 2012. Toyota scares me, even though I work for them. They might think the Taco would look good with 4Runner headlights in it or something like that.

I'm in the motorcycle biz. I constantly have to hear the Goldwing guys come and tell me whats coming out and they're always wrong. I tell them, when you see it on Honda.com that's what it is, anything else is rumor. They don't tell me, my reps or their bosses. When you see it I see it. These guys can keep secrets! Hey guys in Cali, go sneak around an American Honda test facility and see what happens!

Saw this online. Is this the 4Runner-esque new Tacoma? I'm not impressed.

The full redesign is still 3-4 years ahead, so, expect minor changes for 2012.

Backup cam in the tailgate handle mod.
I think Toyota should look at this website for some redesign tips because there are some beautiful trucks on this forum. Please let the new tacoma include an offroad lifted package with 285s as standard tire or at least offer a truck that can be lifted without all the vibes! Hahaha.

I hope they keep the same design for the next 5 years. That way my truck still looks new

For what its worth, I am in the market also for a 2012 tacoma and have been hardcore digging to get any info.

What I've come up with: Petersons 4wd online publication mentioned in February that they had recieved info that the 2012 Tacoma would be a full redesign. I tracked down the author of the article (Drew Hardin) and emailed him for his source. His source was a Toyota "specialist" who works for Auto News Weekly. I emailed him and recieved confirmation from him that his sources have verified the truck will have new sheetmetal and an updated powertrain. I suspect it will have the new 4.0L in the 4runner and FJ cruiser with the dual variable cam timing.

This is what I've got so I figured it's worth sharing.
