John, if your a Bro for painting your scoop, then I am too. I like the way it looks on the SWB/black. I did mine with black trim paint.

Finally got the damn tailgate off, went to the stealer and it took two mech's to get it off. The channel on the tailgate that has the groove is in two parts and were not aligned. I told them to make me look like a dumb ass and show me how to get it off.
Dropped it off at my Buddies so he can do some black pinstriping on it while I go up to RI to visit my family.

 

well shoot it aint your fault shit wasnt aligned but good thing they got it off. yeah i got some sanding to do on it because i only used 60 grit then painted i rather wet sand anyways then spray another coat or 2

 

That was pretty funny after I realized you weren't hurt. I was pretty nervous seeing it happen.

had a productive day
Just got in from fully detailing the truck for the first time in a while. washed, claybared, polished, waxed, and whiped down with detailer spray. i then proceded to bust my face on the fender when i tried to lean on the truck...the detail job made it a little slicker than i was expecting.

finally got around to trimming the handle isolater for my hi-lift (jason knows what i'm talking about)

and lastly, i was able to figure out where my minor steering wheel is coming from.....turns out i chunked off the majority of a 50g wheel wieght on my front drivers side wheel.

 

Sorry to hear about your mishap but that's pretty funny. That's interesting that the weight didn't pop off.

How's your truck doing? You get it aligned yet?

 

yeah i got a good laugh when i saw it. i couldn't believe it took me so long to find something so simple. i'm jsut glad it's something cheap and easy to fix.

 

jason, are your sliders DOM or HREW?

Jason, there is spot over by USF that you can do some light wheeling at. I've seen a few people driving around there

HREW. If I knew at the time I would have upgraded to DOM but they seem to be doing well for me.

I've heard of a place around there, I think I know where you're talking about.

Heres my only problem. the tires are LT325/60/15. Not sure if thats gonna fit, but it is for a five lugger.

 

With the kind of wheeling we do with our trucks I'd be surprised if we could notice a difference. With that said if you did manage to bend the HREW you'd be mad you tried to save a couple of bucks and in the end would spend more to get a second set in DOM. I think for the $50 I'd upgrade to DOM and not look back.


Speaking of armor, I'm having second thoughts on me being capable of making the skids, at least the front skids with all the bends. Or I may be able to make them, but with how much frustration trying to get everything to line up? I'm picky and want it to be as close to everything as possible and I'm not sure I'd be able to accomplish it and then I'd be out whatever that boat load of metal costs and a ton of cut off wheels and flapper disks.
