Bought my 2011 Taco AC new in February. Now with 3300 miles on it, the radio receiver had died. The unit powers up, and the display functions. But there is no sound from any of my presets. Hit SCAN, and the display keeps scrolling through all the FM frequencies.

I did look at the sticky for TSB's. The link at the top of the sticky takes me to the site, but does not open or let me download the AU001-06 TSB. Searching Taco World turned up a lot of stuff on audio upgrades.

Service will probably be closed Monday, but I am gping to call the dealer and see if I can drop my Taco off and pick up the loaner they promised when I bought the truck.

Do CDs play? Perhaps the antenna just came unplugged from the back of the unit.

MountainEarth, yes the CD does work. I forgot to add that in my original post.

Like you, My first thought, when it kept scanning the freqs, was that the antenna may have become unhooked from the unit. But this is a 2WD model, and I have not even taken it down a dirt road. The roads around here are in good shape, so it would be a bit odd for something to pull loose on its own.

Vacountryboy, ya killin' me! I am 25 miles west of Winston-Salem. How far west in NC are you?

Laying on my back, and peering under the dash, will I be able to see the antenna lead? Or is that a pull-apart-the-dash ordeal?

you need to pull that sucker out and look at the antenna input into the deck.
When I removed mine to swap out to a 6 disc, I was shocked that the input was loosely in there and basically fell out.
Get the deck out and look at the back!

Having taken my radio out and put back in a couple of times (to add BlueTooth, and to add iPod), I found the antenna wire to have the least amount of slack of any of the radio wiring. That and the fact that it doesn't have a positive lock like the wiring harness connectors, and it's not to hard to see why it might be loose.

    1. During factory build - if the installer had to pull the unit back out a bit, they could have loosen the wires.

    2. Similar conditions (or didn't fully seat the wire) for a tech adding on any distributor/dealer upgrades (such as iPod or BlueTooth).

Sunday morning, I find my radio is working again, picking up all my presets.

Dodgy antenna connection or wanky receiver?

The radio tuner lost its mind again July 18. Stopped to do some shopping, and 30 minutes later, I crank the Taco and radio works as normal.

August 6, I went in for my 5K oil change, and mentioned the radio issue. Service Mgr tells me the will order a new radio/CD and call me when it comes in. He noted that if Parts does not call me within a week, to call him.

I had a 09 that did that about once a month.Whacked the top of the dash and it would come back on.I always thought there was something loose in the radio.
