Questions on OME lift and ARB Bumper

Ok guys after doing a lot of research there is a good chance Ill be getting my ARB bumper for a good deal


Now I was planning on doing the billys all the way around.... After reading I see thats not the best idea because some of them fail, dont want that to happen!!

So I am now looking at the OME set up, I dont want much lift but I know the bumper will sag the front about a inch so Id like something thats two inches if possible.

Im thinking of going with the 885s not planning on running a winch for awhile.

I have a TSB leafpack with a AAL, so I just need the front coils and shock with the rear shocks, everywhere I look I can only find the entire set up. I cant find anywhere just selling the coils/shocks.

Also what are the best shocks for this set up?

O last thing I am also thinking about cancelling my extended warranty had it for like 4 months so far and never used it, Im also a do it yourself person. Thinking this money could go towards my lift as well.

Think I paid 1200$ for it? I know ouch.....

Figure even if I do have it, and something goes wrong they will blame the lift, the bumper, or just tell me your SOL because Im a volunteer firefighter and I have lights in my truck so they will tell me its a emergency vehicle.

Ok now I have a new question do the 885s and 886s only give 1.75" I heard it was a full 3" just the 886s were tougher.

So I figured if I got the 885s I would end up settling around 2" of lift.

If they only do 1.75" of lift then I should prob go with the 886 and it would drop down around what .5-1"?

 

Both ARB & OME make good stuff from what I've heard. I don't have either 1 on my truck but if you're getting a deal that's too good to pass up, u gotta go for it.

The ARB bumpers are big & heavy, about 90-100 lbs I think, so you better get some heavy duty coilovers, especially if you're adding a winch.

As for the warranty, I hear once you lift the truck the warranty gets voided, unless it's all done by a Toyota dealers. You might as well cancel it. Besides, its a Toyota! It's pratically bulletproof!

 

That is my setup. 885s and the OME Nitrocharger shocks. Didn't take before/after measurements though.

 

What size tires are you running just out of curiosity?

Also do you like it? Any complaints?

The 885/886 have been giving 3 inch without spacers from what ive been seeing

I got 2 3/4 " lift with 885's only , no spacers on my DCLB 4x4 , with no front bumper .

The ARB bumpers are around 120lbs without a winch .

 

They need to update this.

Oh are you sure your talking about 5100's? Ive seen one where the 5100's broke and the base but a lot of the threads are with stock billies

The bilsteins that failed were stock not 5100s.

I'd still suggest the OME if you go with a 886 coil though.

I can't really tell you how the ARB will feel with 885s but I will say that will 884s I had some serious roll without the sway bar.

Put on 886s, no sway bar, and it's firm and planted and I really like how it rides.

I'd just go OME front and rear. You're probably going to want UCAs either way.

They may say your lift caused increased and abnormal wear on front end components if you happen to break anything like diff, cvs, LCAs, steering. However the rest of your truck should still be under warranty. Some dealers may give you a hard time but if this happens tell them to pound sand, call the toyota hotline, or visit another dealer.

My last thought is that Josh went through this on his tacoma. He started with the 885s and 5100s. 3 months later we were swapping them out for 886s/OME because he was adding a winch/bumper/fridge etc...

If you plan on adding more weight over time, do it right the first time and get the 886s.
